These 1800-hectare national parklands are set in the Avon Valley. The Swan River becomes a thrashing white-water stream as it runs through the park, making it a favored location for canoeing and rafting. The park's walking trails are shaded by Wundoo, Jarrah and Flooded Gum trees, and kangaroos and bird life flourish. Wildflowers are spectacular in spring and in winter the rugged scenery is captivating. The park provides numerous picnic and barbecue areas.

Went for a bush walk here - there's a variety of trails and the scenery is beautiful. Great place to spend a whole day hiking, or an hour admiring the scenery on one of the shorter routes.

We walked up to Syd's Rapids and beyond on a very hot day. A new path was being laid but that did not take away from our enjoyment or the wildlife viewed. We saw kangaroos with their joeys, parrots and cockatoos, magpies, lizards, cormorants and...More

Did the 11km echidna trail on a 20 degree spring day. Lots of wildflowers, well marked, a good long incline to get great views and then a nice walk along the Avon River and Syds Rapids. Great facilities in car park for a picnic or...More

Not as well known as some other national park places in the area, but well worth a picnic stop. Good tables/benches, quiet and pretty.

I'm surprised that this beautiful national park has been hidden from our tourism itinerary. All my friends residing in WA have never been there and when I took them there, they got so, so excited and regret that they have not discovered this place sooner....More

There is a well established picnic spot, under the shade of the eucalyptus trees, overlooking a rocky pool of the Avon River. If you've been wandering through the Swan Valley collecting delectable fare, or if you are a local looking for a great picnic spot;...More

I am not sure. I think you can as long as it is on a leash. You might want to check with the National Parks website first.
