It is actually fairly difficult to acquire help in communicating with local businesses. Many speak little to no English or French. Surprisingly, however, the local businesses and people are much friendlier than some of the so-called "English" establishments. One, The "Welsh" Snack Bar, is downright hostile and rude to foreigners. Go figure.

Beautiful town with many good and reasonably priced restaurants we particularly liked the charm of Borges in the cobbled street area, outside dining and paella to die for! Cheap drinks too!

Perfect for everything family, half of the bay is nature and the other half is the village with a huge supermarket at the entrance

This is a small village and the promenade is good. The beach has the form of a scallop, so water is quiet. On the promenade there are a lot of bars, restaurants.

My region of choice, can sometimes be a bit windy but overall really nice and quiet beach town (gets really full in the summers but it's not noisy)

Peaceful beach with bars and cafe lining the promenade. The beach has firm sand and the water was calm even though outside the bar was pretty rough. A great place to walk round and around - the bay to Salir do Porto, or around the town and up the hills. May have been quiet because it was October - and there did look to be a lot of development going on, but certainly worth a visit.

We arrived at midday out of season and found the town and beach to be quiet and peaceful. Outstanding view over the bay to Foz da Arelho. A good variety of restaurants along the beachfront. We had an outstanding lunch of dressed crab at a lovely restaurant. Meandered through the streets and neighborhood and across the railway line. Worthwhile visit for the day.
