Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is a brilliant four-day walk. Start at Auckland Airport and fly Barrier Air for a half-hour, really beautiful scenic flight on a 12 seater plane. The accommodation is at Great Barrier Lodge at Whangaparara - very quiet and comfortable, views over the bay, excellent food. There are steep and undulating walks, but a range of magnificent scenery makes it very much worthwhile! Recommended for anyone who enjoys hiking and is reasonably fit. Very friendly small group, and walkers carried only their lunch, drink, and personal gear each day.

I have done several hikes with Walking Legends on three visits to New Zealand from Canada. Groups are keep small and manageable with leaders providing good support. Accommodations are well chosen and comfortable. It is nice to have the same base to come back to after each day of hiking.

Really keen oil these lodge based, hiking/tramping trips. Cathy and Brad have been doing them for a while and Gt. Barrier is only one of their locales.
Each day you drive out and do a walk - some quite technical and demanding - but that's one of the advantages of having a guide. Not to mention the boxed lunch and the fresh brewed coffee on the mountain tops. Over the week you get a great feel for the geography and geology of the whole island.
And each night, back home for a hot shower, dinner and your own bed. Well done. Keen to use them again - maybe Waikaremoana or the Coromandel.
