A lighthouse was first built on the Flamborough Headland in 1669 but was never lit. The current lighthouse was built in 1806 and acts as a waypoint for deep sea vessels and coastal traffic as well as marking the Flamborough Headland for vessels heading for the ports of Scarborough and Bridlington. Tours of Flamborough Lighthouse are organised by East Riding of Yorkshire Council under licence from the Corporation of Trinity House.

Lovely walk up from the village. Nice cafe and gift shop. Meals are average. Staff are nice. Plenty of parking. There’s a small cove you can walk down to but it’s very steep and the path is dicey if you’re not a mountain goat. Worth...More

I came on a school trip as a parent supervisor. Having never been to flamboroigh but frequented Bridlington it was a nice surprise. The lighthouse has lots of history and we went to the top where the view was spectacular.

We visited one blustery and rainy morning but enjoyed it none the less. The views over the chalk cliffs are impressive and the sight of puffins nesting was very memorable. Unfortunately there was little information about the lighthouse, and the one information board I found...More

Didn't get to tour it, as we only arrived on the last day of the season for it. A shame. We did get some lovely drone footage of the lighthouse and surrounding seafront.

No but from memory I recall they are closing in June for repainting. Check first on their website maybe to avoid disappointment. Have a good time.
