It deserves a quick visit, but with the exception of a carved stone altar there is nothing really great from the Lombard and successive periods. The Roman collection on the contrary is quite interesting.

This museum is rather small but it is charming if you are interested in art and religious relics. If you can, take a guided tour as the guides are delightful and helpful, and they are obviously proud of this small but beautiful collection. It won’t...More

This museum is just four small rooms, containing very few items. The information labels lack detail and are often not close enough to the relevant object to help. There are a couple of innovative visual displays on the ground floor. Visitors to Cividale would be...More

The museum has a small but unique collection of Lombard sculpture with a visual presentation demonstrating the original colours of the objects and the pigments used.

The ancient altar was displayed in fairly unique way by colour highlights on the engravings that changed. NOT huge display of artifacts which was a relief! Just enough to keep one's interest alive.

The only interesting thing to see here is the "recreation" of the painted sarcophagi, vividly making it clear how it was made at the time. Museum closed several days a week.
