Ever wondered what it is like to play on a British Open type Links Course. Well Axe Cliff can give you that feel. With spectacular views of the Jurassic Coast, Axe Cliff is a Little Gem in East Devon. A challenging course with gorse grass if you hit...more
Three of us attended here for a game this month. Although the greens were scorched in places (to be expected given the heatwave) the course was lovely and there were some great views.
The regular members were very friendly and we had a great day...More

Thanks James. We appreciate your understanding in respect of the greens. We are a free draining course so when we have drought conditions we have no chance to keep it green. The up side is that we are open nearly every day of the year....More
Called in here completely by accident following a very hot and fairly challenging walk on South West Coast Path from Lyme Regis. The final part of the walk takes you across one of the greens and past the clubhouse. We were planning on getting something...More

We are very used to walkers looking a little unkempt so no worries there. Yes we are a golf club but we are not of the snooty variety. Both the staff and the members are very happy to greet newcomers. After all the Jurassic walk...More
While on holiday we booked a round. We didn’t know what to expect but was surprised it was a nice golf course with some quirky holes and blind shot. We played it on a very hot day and the hills on the first 6 holes...More

At this time of year the views are spectacular and even though I don't get a chance to play that often, every time I see something different. If you come back, treat yourselves to a buggy for the first six and spoil yourselves by using...More
I stopped here on a very hot Sunday with my dog because I had just finished the 7 mile walk from Lyme Regis. I was very worried about my dog as he had become over-heated and the staff here were fantastic! They hurried to get...More

That is very heart warming to hear. We have 10,000 walkers pass through the first fairway and very few pop in for refreshment. I think it is the traditions of golf clubs being snooty and unwelcoming. I am sure that your review will help to...More
Axe Cliff is quite simply one of best courses in Devon! A real hidden gem in the East of the County! We have played here many times and every time it's a real challenge and very enjoyable! Not a links course, it's a "Cliff top"...More

Thank you for a great review. Your detail and analysis of the course is spot on! It is not a course that you can play once and master it. There are so many nuances that there is always a new challenge. The cost of a...More
My husband hired the clubhouse for the evening for my surprise birthday party.
It was fantastic. The staff were so friendly and welcoming.
The buffet food was excellent, probably the best I have had. It was replenished all evening,so the guests never went hungry.

We are very lucky to have such Panoramic views of the Devon coast. We make the best of them and I am pleased to say it was me that replaced the decking area and spruced it up. Thank you for your kind words.
This is the first time I have visited the course, but I will definitely be back. There at some really good golf holes which are a challenge for golfers of many levels. The 16th, 17th and 18th in particular are good fun and memorable. The...More

Thank you so much. We really want people to have a good time and it all has to be a total package nowadays. It is no longer good enough just to provide a well kept golf course. The hospitality is equally important.
