The immersive audio-visual show is powerfully compelling and sets the scene before being lead down to the incredibly impressive underground burial site. The narration with a hand-held wand is very well done with articulate information and atmospheric sounds. This is the only prehistoric burial site...More

Ok, just to be clear - this site is amazing. It is of great archeological interest. It gives evidence of civilisations from possibly earlier than we have evidence of human existence. However, the tours are limited to a certain number of people every day. If...More

The preservation of this site requires minimal and controlled human intervention so the air quality and number of people allowed in every day is rigidly controlled. There is an on line booking system for this but the full tours are booked out usually a month...More

Only EIGHT people per hour (tour) allowed on this site. I've not got my head around the age of the Hypogeum yet but it's a Must Do in Malta. It's a bus trip from Valletta bus station. All bus journeys are one Euro 50 each...More

This location has been on my bucket list for at least 18 years, ever since I heard a recording made inside the Oracle room. The history is interesting but it is totally amazing to be inside such an ancient underground structure. This was the reason...More

I have seen all of Europe's greatest neolithic sites, Carnac, Bru na Boinne, Stonehenge, Avebury. The Hypogeum is as old or older than any of these, and is so well preserved as to be a beauty among those beasts. It is also perhaps the toughest...More

An awe inspiring experience. Vast underground sculptured burial chambers all built without the use of stone tools. It's hard to believe it's real. If you get a chance, also go to the national archeological museum in Valletta, where some of the treasures from here and...More
