Most beautiful village in Spain

Gorgeous streets to walk. Locals are very proud and keep flowers on the walls. Perfect anytime of the day. Would go back in an instant.

Delightful Area
Oct 2018 • Couples
My wife and I had the pleasure to stay in one of the whitewashed houses for 8 nights. Fun to explore the narrow winding streets (free of traffic) with beautiful patios and houses adorned with colorful flower pots on the outside walls. From the plaza of the church and castle the streets lead to the city wall high above the valley below with great views of hillsides of olive trees. There are also several nice parks in the Barrio as well as nice restaurants and cafes. Can't imagine going to Priego and not going here.

This is a nice area in the village. Just get lost in the little streets and enjoy the local atmosphere. Beautiful flowers and little white houses.

Beautiful area hidden behind the church
May 2018 • Friends
When we arrived near the tourist office we wondered what the fuss about this town had been. It looked like many other Spanish towns. We wandered up to the castle which wasn’t very impressive. Then we went round the back of the church and were greeted by the marvellous balconies and streets lined with flowers. The climate must be ideal for geraniums as they flower in such profusion. It was lovely to wander through the narrow streets and be greeted by new photo opportunities round every corner. Don’t miss this if you like floral scenery.

Lovely old town. So charming,

If you intend to wander, ( and I usually suggest that you just do), I find here that it’s well worth getting a map , just so that you don’t miss anything you might want to see. Also if you make a mistake you might end up hiking up and down steep streets unnecessarily . The view point is wonderful, and their are churches and squares to explore. Again , a list of the opening hours is really important as many building have odd hours, or days when they close.

Beautiful little lanes with lots of flowers.
May 2017 • Couples
Much smaller barrio than the ones in the big cities, so quiet but delightful. Not much choice of tapas bars or restaurants, but a charming detour.

A beautiful area.
May 2016
We visited this area in May and were very fortunate to experience the Patios. This is when the streets and patios are decorated with flowers (as per this photo). We also attended a free concert in the Barrio, fabulous to see young and old enjoying themselves. Very picturesque and clean and lovely, friendly people.

This is a beautiful barrio with quaint, traditional homes, near the Castle. It is a lovely place to walk and enjoy the incredible views of olive orchards and mountains across the valley.
