Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Out shopping and saw cottage open. Appreciated how hard the women must have worked in those days. Well maintained in the park. Great new toilet in the immediate area, bonus!

Although this lovely cottage is only open twice a month, 1st and 3rd Sunday of each month, from 11.00 am to 3.00 pm. It is worth seeing how the early settlers had to survive. Makes you think how much we take for granted these days!!

Apparently now open every Sunday making it easier to plan your visit. Brien was very knowledgeable and keen to impart his knowledge on the house and Pukekohe area. Would be awesome if the Auckland council spent more money on making this site into a museum, capturing the history of Franklin. Worth a visit, every by donation.

It is difficult to know when this museum is open or where to park as it sits on one of the busiest corners in Pukekohe but having seen an advertisement advising open on a particular day prior to Xmas I walked down to have a look. It was so worth the visit as I learned more about the town I live in and the people who settled it. Thanks to the volunteers who man this cottage for sharing their knowledge too. It's a great place to start a historical walk of the town.

I have lived in pukekohe for about 10 years and have always meant to visit. Finally on Sunday morning walk saw it was open and popped in. Was really interesting and made even more interesting with having Brian explain many interesting facts of pukekohe history. Thank you

As a new local I have driven past this many a time wondering exactly what it is - finally I visited with my child’s school group and it was well worth the visit.
The pioneer cottage is open the 1st and 3rd Sunday of each month from 11am, entry is by donation (be generous!)
It really is a very interesting look into how our early settlers lived and the wonderful curators (we had Brian and Nookie) have such wonderful knowledge and personal interest in the history.
Worth a visit - especially if you are local and have driven past many times without stopping!
Parking is hard but park on Station Road and it’s a short walk.
