It was extremely foggy at the car park and we were about to give up but so glad we decided to walk down because there was no fog as we neared the lighthouse

A good walk from the carpark to the Lighthouse (about 900m) but the view confirms the beauty and remoteness of this part of the coastline. Carpark and Eco bathroom facilities available. A nice break from highway 1.

This is my favourite place in New Zealand and is beyond spectacular! This is a must visit place and must be added to your travel list. Nugget Point is 1.5 hours' drive from Dunedin and the scenic drive was an amazing experience. The walk to...More

A viewpoint and a small lighthouse located above the see, half way between Dunedin and Invercargill. Not bad, you can make some nice pictures, but nothing too impressive. No harm if you miss it.

The walk out to the lighthouse was well worth it. The views are stunning and we saw seals playing on the rocks beneath us.

They have put up a great viewing platform around the light house with a few seats. This allows for quite a few people to be up at the light house at the same time. There are some great photos to be had from here, and...More

We stayed in the Caitlins over Christmas - what a beautiful region. Very unspoiled and under populated. This is a 15 minute drive a little of the main road and a short incline walk to the lighthouse and the Nuggets. You will definitely be pleased...More

Well worth the drive and the walk! The road up to Nugget Point already offers great views, but nothing compared to what you get from the viewing platform in front of the lighthouse. Watch the seals play in the water beneath you. Take in the...More
