An automated Lighthouse at the northern tip of North Island. A path leads down to the Lighthouse and their is a signpost indicating distances to various locations. Cape Reinga area offers spectacular views along the coastline in both directions. Also offers a good walk from...More

Travelling to Cape Reinga has always been on my bucket list of my NZ destinations due to its place in Maori culture. Long drive to get there from Opononi but well worth it. Beautiful day and the Three Kings were visible. North Cape also clear.Parking...More

A long drive, a short walk, but it was exhilarating to stand on the edge with the wind blowing furiously, watching the expansive ocean met the coast & see all the whirlpools generated.

Incredible views on a good day, not a lot of shelter on a bad one. It is fascinating to see the Tasman Sea meet the Pacific Ocean and to realise how far it is to anywhere else.
