Walked all the way up to find it was closed, the walk up is over 40 mins, there should be a sign up somewhere detailing the opening hours so you DONT waste your time

This should be a must to visit if visiting Pontypool park in the summer months, as it is only open then. very intresting decoration and history!

This C18 shell grotto has photos and its history on boards outside but the building sits behind a tall locked fence and sturdy door.

Having walked all the way up the hill to this, found it was closed. Would have liked to have gone in. Sad as there were a lot of people in the park and I am sure more would like to visit

Views from outside the grotto are great & inside it is quite a sight but it's only open once in a blue moon. I know the Santas grotto is held there which is supposed to be great, but I think the owner(s) should open this...More
