Folly Tower can be reached after a fairly steep walk up through Pontypool Park. We couldn't enter the tower but from around the tower there are great views over Pontypool.

Drove up this hill at daybreak in the freezing cold and it was a really lovely sight. The light was calm and uplifting. Cows ambled around (leaving cowpats all over the place, watch out) and the scenery was beautiful and peaceful. Wear good waterproof shoes,...More

We drove most of the way up here then walked. It was very muddy but great view that would be lovely on a sunny day.

This is a great place to visit, especially in the summer/autumn. The only downside is that the interior is not open very often. When it is the views are superb from the top.

What can be better than a walk starting in Pontypool Park (free parking) that takes you passed the Shell grotto as well. Good boots needed for the short walk to the Tower where you have stunning views of Torfaen and beyond on a clear day.

We walked through Pontypool park to get here, and the views on the way up are so beautiful. We passed the grotto first, met a friendly horse, and enjoyed the walk through farm lands and hills to get to the folly. The folly itself is...More
