- Dawn H9 contributionsA MUST do experience.Riding in the Scottish Highlands was an absolute NON-negotiable for me. So when my husband, a true novice rider said he wanted to join me, we had to find a location that allowed new riders on difficult terrain. Well. Charlotte and Richard did NOT disappoint. We had a mixed experience group, and that paired us up well, let the group separate to give everyone the ride tailored to their experience and guided my husband to do his first trots successfully, and were so so welcoming and warm. To the point where I want to move there and work for them! Totally go, absolutely worth it.Visited September 2023Travelled with familyWritten 8 September 2023

- Sarah F12 contributionsAmazing spot for a horse riding experienceFantastic horse riding experience in a stunning spot. Friendly and chatty host Richard. We had a mix up with dates and they were so kind fitting us in on another day. We saw deer while we were out too! A memorable bit of our Scottish hols. We booked a 1.5 hour trek with Hollingwells Equestrian and it was fantastic!
Even though the weather was pretty miserable, it didn’t ruin the experience at all.
The horses were brilliant and the route through the forest was great.
Richard and Charlotte were both extremely friendly, approachable and knowledgeable.
We have been riding a few months now in our home town but it was great to be finally get out with the horses and experience some different terrain and scenery!
Thank you so much, we will definitely be back in the future!
Highly recommend this place!

How did we not know about Hollingwell's Equestrian before? Never mind, we know of you now and will be telling everyone about our fantastic experience! This was the highlight of our holiday and we'll definitely be back.
From the very first email, Charlotte was so friendly and accommodating. Nothing was any trouble. When I couldn't make it on the day due to a last minute injury, Richard took the rest of the family on the 2 hour picnic trek and Charlotte drove me up on their new (and very comfortable!) quad bike to join them for lunch.
The set up was great, everything is there and within very easy reach of Tain and Dornoch; the horses are super - they even managed to match our kids up with animals sharing the same names!!; the trek itself covered some lovely area and great views; Richard and Charlotte were utterly respectful no matter our riding abilities, and so very welcoming, we felt instantly at home. We felt like old friends and just had the best time. Thanks so much everyone - we're very much looking forward to seeing you soon!

We had an amazing time at Hollingwells. We stayed 3 days/2 nights with them, rested, had riding lessons and went on hacks. I have never come across such a lovely bunch of people running a clean, well organised, professional set up! The horses are well cared for, the tuition is excellent and the views are stunning. The caravan (static) we stayed in was spotlessly clean and well appointed. Thank you! I almost hesitate to write this review as I don't want everyone to know about them and book them up! :-)

Very professional - safe, but relaxed and enjoyable.
It was my son's first time on a pony/horse and he loved it.
Plenty of different tracks up the hillside to explore and great scenery. Got a couple of trots in which was good.
The lady that was guiding us was very personable/knowledgeable and we had a good chat on the way around.

Me and my partner had a great 1 hour trek, we booked last minute and was great that they were able to accommodate us. We rode Izzy and Copper, both brilliant horses and was taken out by Richard. We had a great ride, Richard was very friendly and made sure we were comfortable throughout, offering trotting and even cantering if we felt up for it - which we did!
Lovely experience overall and will definitely book again next time we are here (we were staying on holiday from Fife so unfortunately too far away for us to book regularly or I would 100%!)

The owners and staff were sooooo amazing. It was a dream for me to ride in the Highlands and this did not disappoint. We did the trek & picnic and we got super lucky with the weather, everything was perfect. We are an advanced and a beginner rider and they made it a safe, fun and a memorable experience for both of us. I cannot wait to go back someday. Thank you Charlotte, Richard and Susan for such great care and a tasty picnic. Above and beyond!

Booked a 2 hour ride here as an anniversary present for my other half and not did we have an amazing day. All the staff there were incredible and so informational about the horses and even on route on our trek. The horses were so calm and patient with us and the views were just amazing!! We will certainly be back 🏴

Hello we will be visiting Scotland in July, our hotel is in Edinburgh, is there transportation available to your facility?
Also do you have half day tours ? And novice levels also?
Thanks very much
