It’s wonderful that everything is done to ensure the building preserves it medieval identity. Embellishment is kept to the minimum just as it’s original state. Salut !

The bells ring from 7am til 10 pm...the interior is perfect late medieval and it is always open and the baptismal fount looks Roman

The magic to visit Casertavecchia at sunset is unique while looking to Caserta with the big "Reggia". Duomo is the top of a "crescendo" of wonderful buildings

This is a beaufiful old shurch in the middle of the village and it is lovely because it is natural and stripped of gaudy stacco.

After the visit to the 'Reggia di Caserta' the old Caserta town is the second stop which would take you back in time! Good to spend half a day or a day and have lunch on the top of the hill!

Searching for the duomo in caserta with our GPS device took us to Cattedrale di San Michele Arcangelo. It is not the same place. Arguably it is not the same city. Casertavecchia is in the outskirts of caserta and its duomo is some-what gloomy. Nevertheless...More
