Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

On the way to Mount Cook Village I made a short break at this beautiful lookout post. The carparking with toilet, tables, benches and fences all looks new. You have a beautiful view of Lake Pukaki with it's beautiful color and surrounding mountains. During my visit it rained and it was cloudy, but the sun broke through and a beautiful rainbow became visible. Worth a visit.

Especially in winter with snow capped mountains in the background and the lake in the foreground makes for a perfect stope ride.

From the carpark, it's a relatively short walk down to the lake - worth doing on a nice day, as long as you are happy to walk back up the hill.

The lookout is off the side of a large car park which is just off the main road, so very easy to access You have amazing views of Lake Pukaki and Mount Cook in the distance.

We stopped en route to Aoraki/Mt Cook just to take photos but many people were picnicking. Amazing scenery from Oamaru all the way along River Waitiki & Lakes Waitaki, Aviemore, Benmore & of course Pukaki.

If you’re driving through and it’s not chucking it down, stop, take a picture or two! It’s definitely a great viewing of Lake Pukaki and Mount Cook at the back!

A must stop on the way to Mt Cook. The place has been upgraded with more clear parking area, toilet, tables and chairs. A way leads you walk down to the lake. Its name has changed as well from Peter's Lookout to Scenic Lookout.
You can see clearly Mt Cook at the north end of the lake in a sunny day.
