Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The location is stunning but that is only the beginning of the joys this stay brings. The cottage is spotless, well equipped, comfortable and beautifully furnished. The numerous books and leaflets are a mine of information on the house and the area. Our hosts were very helpful and accommodating with check in times
But the jewel in the crown is the light at night. You could spends hours sitting under it and gazing up.

This is a water’s edge shoreline walk which hugs the sea and requires you to scramble over some rocky outcrops. The return leg is via quiet country lanes.

We did it on the day storm Ellen was battering the coast with 60 mile an hour winds, which whipped the surf up into a frenzy. A brilliant autumn walk in mid August!

I didn't stay in the lighthouse just visited for a short hike. Very quiet spot, good views on a nice day. Parking is limited. One hour visit is more than enough unless you want to explore the area on foot.

Only two yellow and black Light houses in the world and this is one of them. Beautiful location in County Down, referenced by Van Morrison in one of his wonderful songs. You will also pass the ruins of the St. John’s Church

This is at a dead end but is a really nice setting and worth seeing on a good day. Some nice ruins on the way down to it where a couple had a picnic - beautiful site!

Brilliant sight for daydreaming whilst admiring the panoramic views over the Irish Sea towards the Isle of Man. Looking south the Mournes can be admired in great splendour.
Cottages at the lighthouse can be rented out. There is still in place the operating machinery for the fog horn and a pleasant short stroll down the boat ramp.
There is not much in the way of walking at this location so drive up to the main gate at the lighthouse.
This is isolated but very enjoyable shoreside, apparently Van Morrison visits here on occasions.

Stayed for 2 nights during November with my husband and Brother in law and his wife. We really really enjoyed it. It's so special. Cottage is warm, charming, spacious, well equipped and immaculately clean. Walks and views are beautiful. Lovey restaurants in the surrounding area - spoiled for choice. Must stay if you just want to get away from it all. Ann was a super host offering great advice on the local area. Susan was very responsive to emails. All in all - super and unique. Would have no hesitation in recommending. And all ready looking forward to returning.

I stayed 2 nights at one of two cottages at the St. John's Point Lighthouse. Each cottage is big enough for 4 people, completely equiped to facilitate the needs for a few days stay. Beautifuly decorated and perfectly clean. It is a very quite place, you can easly relax there. The only issue (or maybe not) is lack of wi-fi.

We travelled to St John's Point on a gorgeous sunny day. The coast road nearby is stunning, with views of the Mournes across the water.

The road to the lighthouse is quite badly signposted and we nearly missed it. Look out for signs for St John's old churchyard.

The road is single track, but plenty of passing points. There are rocks and rock pools between the road and sea. At the lighthouse you can walk down the top of an old wall, right down through the ricks to the sea itself.

A beautiful place for a picnic. No cages for a few miles either side - which is a shame, although also means the area is quieter.

At certain times of year the chances of seeing seals and other wildlife must be great. Sadly none in an August day. But the lighthouse is still well worth a visit.

Fantastic place to stay. Well equipped house with everything you need. Great not having a TV or WiFi, as it made it a much more relaxing holiday.
Looking forward to returning when we get the chance.
