I did not go into the tower but the walk around it is free. It is near Dafosi temple, so you can pop by to have a look if you like. I was in Zhangye for the canynon visit

In the middle of a public square so it is free to go and see. Seems to serve no other purpose than to just be there because you can't climb it. A bigger draw for me was the tame pigeons and the woman selling bird...More

We visited in the night just after dinner. Did not climb the pagoda as it was already closed. But it was still an impressive structure. Nice lighting. Good for taking few photographs. The square in front of pagoda is also nice. The place is okay....More

Nice to take a few photos of while in the central areas of Zhangye. Free to walk around and up close. Entrance was closed without any explanation while we were there.

Reached on 21st Sep afternoon abt 3pm. Paid RMB$13.50 to climb the temple. Nothing really interesting, the writings on the walls are brief. Climbing up to the top wasnt too diffcult. Not too high either. At the top was disappointed that the view was blocked...More

It was originally built during the Northern Zhou dynasty and it was either rebuilt or repaired later on by the Sui, Tang, Ming and Qing dynasties with a history of 1400 years. What you see was rebuilt during the Qing dynasty in 1926. Entrance ticket...More

It was interesting but wasn't very high really quiet, no one else inside which was nice for a change. the view from the top wasn't that spectacular more interesting from the outside so no need to pay to go up unless you want to.

Nice to see it from outside, but not worth of climbing all the way up. Although from outside the construction looks really nice and intriguing, inside there is nothing to see, only concrete walls. And ones you get on top, your view will be obstructed...More
