Muta Temple (literally means wooden pagoda) was built in the Northern Zhou Dynasty (557-581). It has 8 sides, nine stories high with very intricate designs. I did not climb up to the top but supposedly you can have a panoramic view of Zhangye city. The...More

I did not go into the tower but the walk around it is free. It is near Dafosi temple, so you can pop by to have a look if you like. I was in Zhangye for the canynon visit

In the middle of a public square so it is free to go and see. Seems to serve no other purpose than to just be there because you can't climb it. A bigger draw for me was the tame pigeons and the woman selling bird...More

It was interesting but wasn't very high really quiet, no one else inside which was nice for a change. the view from the top wasn't that spectacular more interesting from the outside so no need to pay to go up unless you want to.

Nice to see it from outside, but not worth of climbing all the way up. Although from outside the construction looks really nice and intriguing, inside there is nothing to see, only concrete walls. And ones you get on top, your view will be obstructed...More

Located almost in the middle of the city, the temple looks much better from the outside due to its amazing architecture and makes for some good potos from the large square just in front of it. Otherwise, some nice views of the city from the...More
