The reclining Buddha is interesting and the halls of exhibits behind it - all in chinese unless you have a guide. Zhangye has good food if you explore and if you are not interested in Buddhism, you may prefer to spend your time on food....More

Within the city of Zhang ye, this is probably the most famous or popular place to visit for tourists. If you wish to find out more about Buddhism, this is probably worth a visit. The reclining Buddha is the key attraction here.

Actually visited The Dafo Temple or Great Buddha Temple in Sept'16. This is an ancient Buddhist temple in Zhangye Gansu, China which houses a gigantic reclining Buddha statute. Admission Fee : CNY 41 Opening Hours : 07:30 to 17:30

Let's face it, Zhangye is not the most pretty place to visit, apart from the attractions outside of the city of course. So if you tire of the busy streets, the tower blocks and the crowds, Dafo Temple is like an oasis of calm. Pretty...More

Dafo Temple is located in Zhangye downtown, and it is a simple rectangular building hosting a giant outstretched Buddha. Painted walls and wooden panels complete the whole. Even if worth being mentioned, the comparison with other attractions around Zhangye, make this temple a minor location
