About
In the area of Capri Point, following the road passing Tilapia Hotel and the Yacht Club, keep on going straight on the dirt road, and you will find the gate that leads to an historic cemetery. There are tombs dating back to the late 19th century. There are graves of German and British colonialists, as well as recent graves of Tanzanians and people from various origins.

The so called European Cemetery contains many "residents" from over 130 years from not only Germany, Finland, Goa, USA, South Africa, Tanzania and neighboring Uganda and Kenya. A cosmopolitan resting place hidden among the granite outcroppings of Mwanza's Capri Point. A caretaker showed me around the hardscrabble grounds, which was good as he was able to wipe off dirt covered nameplates, find those that had shifted and even dug out the soil that had nearly covered one marker. It is a beautiful setting for a final resting place, regardless of nationality. Hopefully more effort can be put into documenting the long history of the Cemetery and the people therein.

It is worth an hour-visit in Mwanza, especially if you are interested in historic graves. There are very old German and British graves from colonial times. You might need some time to find them, but in our case there was a helpful man showing us the German graves and we gave him a tip in the end.

How can find a caretaker there at cemetery? Because we found nobody who can give us the history.

A caretaker found me, as it were. I cannot be sure whether he is officially placed there or works more as a groundskeeper. He knew where the older graves were, but I cannot say he was versed in history. I found a brief history of Capri Point that mentions the Cemetery at Saint Augustine University of Tanzania which has a website link that TripAdvisor does not allow to be posted so you have to find that yourself - sorry for inconvenience.
The app/website called "find a grave" ironically mentions only two cemeteries in Mwanza, and not this one. I learned as much as possible from reading the tombstones and markers that were still in place.
Will post if I find anything else
