About
At the roundabout between Station Rd and Kenyatta Rd the statue of the famous Lake Victoria Tilapia fish can be found. It is a meeting point in the centre of Mwanza which can be found easily. The Samaki (Swahili for fish) symbolises the economic activity of the fishermen of Mwanza. It is a place where you can take photographs with the Tilapia fish.

This is one of the Mwanza city icon, however it contradict with previous and famous 'Bismack rock'. Although it has no much than icon for the lake Victoria unique fishes. It was also installed late so just contradict its function with the rock, however its also another good indicator of the city. You dont have to spend a day to visit but you can passby on the way to another destinations anyway

I had passed this roundabout several times before I realized there was a statue/fountain of a fish in the middle. I had been more impressed initially by the huge rocks overlooking the circular road. When someone finally drew my attention to the fish, I was impressed. Calling the circle Samaki Corner is appropriate as samaki is the Swahili word for fish, a major source of livelihood in this lakeside town.

Its enroute to anywhere so you can see it whenever, Nice enough sculpture, which probably means something but little info doesn't help.

After the Bismark rock this is the second landmark to be known and identify Mwanza city, its well known to the Mwanza dwellers , and even other Tanzania regions, it is located at the city centre and can be used as a meeting point, many travelers visit Mwanza usually prefers to take a picture at samaki point, there are so many cameraman waiting for customers.
