About
Bismarck Rock is the symbol of Mwanza. Located at the shores of Lake Victoria, visitors can have a rest in the park and enjoy the stunning view of the Rock formation and the Lake. The rock is named after the German chancellor (1871-1890) Otto von Bismarck, still referring to the history of Mwanza founded in the colonial period of "German East Africa".

This rock is the Icon of Mwanza. Bismarck Rock is a precious balance rock that is located in Lake Victoria where Chancellor Otto Von Bismarck was said to be erected. The viewpoint is nice and must-see when visiting Mwanza

This was a cool area with lots of people. They did charge us a very small entrance fee, I'm not sure what it went towards though. Unfortunately, the water has a large amount of plastic washed to the shore which spoils a little the natural beauty here.

We saw the Rock from both the land and the water, both remarkable. The whole Port area is pretty cool, the rocks in all parts are worthy of a picture.

Bismark rock is fine, but this review is really for Gabriel's boat trip. You meet in the small park in front of Bismark rock and he then takes you in his boat (with staff, with life jackets etc). It's about a three hour trip, including a visit and short tour around the local fish market, a visit to various little islands (you can see caves, lizards, birds etc) and if you're lucky even crocs. It's great to be out on the water on a beautiful day and the boat has shade so you can shelter from the hot sun. Gabriel is a great guide and pointed out things around the lake as we went. His number is +255 769 414 505. We paid 25 USD (converted into Tanzanian shillings at the going rate) for two people. For a full boat load it would be cheaper, but that was great value. Recommended! PS Bismark rock is interesting too.

We called along Bismarck Rock yo take some photos and were met by a park attendant who advised us that there was a fee, we were unaware of this however for ease we paid him and were a ble to take some lovely family photos.
The area was kept clean and seems well maintained.

Lovely at sunset too.

We spent 1.5 hours in the beautiful and very cleaned-up garden, gazing at the incredible Bismarch Rock. Samosas, ice cream and cold drinks are being sold and you can take a rest in the shade, looking at the beautiful lake. Worth the 1000 TSh!
