Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Te Awamutu Museum is a small Museum that packs a punch, it has galleries discussing early Maori habitation of the area, early Maori and European contact, and gives a clear timeline of how events in the Waipa were shaped. It gives a clear and concise view of the Waipa district over a broad range of time. Plus they have a mezzanine floor with kids crafts and activities, and a beautiful book corner.

It is a small provincial museum that gives a good overview of Te Awamutu and it's area and it's place in NZ history. I was surprised and impressed to find the very impressive taonga, Uenuku there and it is really worth a visit for that alone.

The exhibit of Waipa, the region and the people. It shows the history of Waipa region with milestones from 1200’s to 1954. How Maori as enterprise, the King, the Priest and the Waikato War, including the history of Rewi Maniapoto. Also, how the region was changed into farming and pasture until now. The history of newspaper in Maori language, Te Hokioi. Exhibit of soldier uniforms at that time. Good place for the information of local history and region. Entry is free, as well as on street parking.

The museum is mainly about the Maori/European conflicts. Small space, a lot of writing. My view of the museum was coloured as I thought they had a display on Split Enz, which was apparently a temporary exhibit closed up months before. Some newspaper clippings were carted out in a crate from a back storeroom for me to look at. I wish Neil and Tim would clear out their sheds and invest in something permanent in the town they grew up in.

Great for a small museum. Good to see the concept for Te Ara Wai - Journeys (planned new discovery centre). Uenuku on display, local artifacts and histories - we really enjoyed our time exploring and doing the activity trail. Great experience.

As a non-Kiwi, this museum provided a good glimpse into the historic land wars in this district. Driving thru the district, we can see why the Maori regraded this as their bread bowl & why new settlers wanted it for farming land. Staff at Museum very helpful with our questions about the area & attractions. Free entry (donation requested) so it’s worth 30-45 mins break for a look.

I love this museum. It always runs very interesting exhibitions and has fascinating items of local interest on permanent display. An excellent little shop too. I would highly recommend their current exhibition, Balls, Bullets and Boots. Just fabulous!

This museum has a number of long term exhibitions such as a gallery, pioneering times and developed landscapes. The short term exhibition (Jan - July) which drew most of my time and interest was on the famous Dambusters Raid. A number of air crew from NZ took part in this raid and the exhibition relates their story as well as a history of the raid and the people behind it. The information, displays and exhibits are well laid out leaving you in awe of the people, the planning and the raid. I did see other exhibits which were impressive, unfortunately we were limited by time.
