Wonderful coffee stop having completed the Tour Aotearoa. We enjoyed the surroundings including the collectables and gallery. It was a lovely surprise and treat to be invited into the little cinema to see a movie of The Southern Lights. Thanks so much for the memorable visit!

We visited Bluff on a Saturday afternoon, and came across this quirky little cafe in time for lunch, and so pleased that we did.
We received a warm welcome by Cherie, the owner, and an invitation to look around the eclectic mix of interesting Kiwiana and art work that makes up her small museum and gallery, while she prepared what we had selected from the cabinet for lunch and made our coffee.
The homemade food was just delicious, a simple but varied selection of sandwiches, bagels, paninis and baking, plus the best spanakopita I have ever tasted.
The coffee was excellent also, and we loved the choice of standard or retro Crown Lynn cup - Crown Lynn won of course!
It made a memorable first visit to Bluff even more special, and we would highly recommend putting coffee and a bite to eat at Oyster Allsorts on your agenda when visiting Southland’s southern most town.

Quirky little cafe worth the stop for a coffee and pie, to warm up after being at the viewpoint. The paua house at the back is interesting.

One of those lovely places where you can find a choice of things to do. Great on a rainy day, Oyster allsorts is a cafe with a small museum, or collection of local photos and artefacts, and also a shop with attractive local crafts and cards to buy. It has a lounge-sized bathroom, always a bonus when you can get in and out without bruising your knees. They were a bit overwhelmed by a party of thirteen when we arrived so we left, looking for another open cafe. But there wasn't one.

I found out about this place on a tourist map of Bluff. It is wonderful! A friendly lady serves lovely coffee, pies and cakes. The small museum is unusual and interesting. I love the story about Fred and Myrtles Paua Shell house, such a shame it was taken to Christchurch, I would have liked to have visited the real place.
It also has a tiny cinema where you can watch a short film about the Southern Lights. I watched the film while drinking my coffee.
Well worth a visit!

It is a beautiful small museum made with a lot of love from a friendly lady. Even a small cinema is inside where we could watch videos about the Aurora Australis (southern lights) above Bluff including interesting stories and advices. Definitely worth a visit when you are in Bluff. It is for free but a little donation can be made.

We stopped here for a coffee and were surprised the find there was a small museum about Bluff and it’s history, and also a cinema showing a brilliant short film of the Southern Lights or Aurora Australis. These were all just in exchange for a small donation to the group who have set it all up.
The coffee and food were also excellent - much better than elsewhere in Bluff and the owner very friendly.
If you have completed the Te Aoraroa or the Tour Aotearoa there is also a wall of fame for you to sign!

We called into Oyster Allsorts for a cup of tea after a long walk around the headland and climb to the top of Motupohue. The tea was refreshing, the chocolate cake delicious and the friendliest service made for a relaxed atmosphere.
The surprise was the museum set up behind the café. Very interesting and informative and treasures you would not expect to see like a pre-wearable arts coat made from Oyster sacks and a beautiful display of Paua.
The final treat was the mini cinema and experiencing the Aurora Australis. The visit was a 100% genuine kiwi experience.

A big thank you to Cherie for a lovely end to a beautiful day in Bluff..

I thoroughly enjoyed the free museum tour and the wonderful Aurora Australis experience in the small cinema. Just brilliant.

Coffee is excellent and shop well stocked with tourist information and plenty to enjoy in experiencing local history.

We drove down the main street looking for somewhere to lunch in Bluff. Something about Oyster Allsorts caught my brother's eye so that was where we went. Inside were terrific salmon pies and excellent coffee as well as an extraordinary private museum. While we walked through the museum, Cherie, the owner, sorted out our pies and drinks. And the museum! What a treat. A delight of art, artefacts and hilarity. A homage to the famous Paua House, the Ocean Beach Freezing works, and the Bluff environs. Inside a little theatre, we watched the Aurora Borealis, the great light display of the southern skies. Wow. Best visit to Bluff ever.
