Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This monument is in the grounds of Le Vasa Resort, and commemorates the last battle in the 13th Century between the Samoans and the Tongans, and ended 200 years of Tongan rule over Samoa.

We stayed at Le Vasa for our honeymoon, it was a perfect little set up, quiet, peaceful and enough activities to keep both of us entertained. The Fale' we stayed in was nice, met all our needs and we felt at home easily. The food was great. we found the customer service especially from Tony to be exceptional. He took us on the wet'n'wild tour which was spectacular and something we would recommend. We also found Tony to be very approachable and friendly, he organised a special romantic dinner on the oceanfront with Samoan music and seafood to match a perfect sunset. The weather we had was brilliant and above all can't wait to return to Samoa. The people are exceptionally nice and willing to assist wherever needed.

The only downfall when visiting Samoa that we found was that flights from Sydney arrive and leave very early in the morning, and for this reason we'd advise you to pre-advise Le Vasa so they can pick you up and or have a room ready for you once you arrive.

Above all we'd like to personally Thank Tony and the crew for giving us a relaxing and memorable Honeymoon to a magic and beautiful part of the world.

The beauty of this war memorial is that it is more of a monument to peace.
You can find it on the oceanfront of Le Vasa Resort, Samoa where I spent one of the most glorious weeks of my life.
The last war on this island was in the 12th century AD. The Tongans ruled over the Samoans for 300 years until the Samoans rose up and took back their freedom. The Tongans swore to only return to Samoan shores in peace. And they stuck to it.
The UN, the Middle East, the USA and other conflict zones might learn something from this piece of history. It's one thing to learn how to wage war, it's another thing to learn how to maintain peace. That's what impresses me about South Pacific nations.

This monument gave us an amazing immersive experience with Pacific history. This was the exact spot where the Malietoa alii, matai and warriors put an end to the 300 year Tongan occupation circa 1250 AD. A simple but impressive monument on a very attractive headland and readily accessible from the Le Vasa Resort!
