Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We just finished a fabulous Heaphy Express with Jenni. So easy with transport, food and cooking arranged. The food was great and there was plenty of it-Jen’s cocoa butter and ginger sweets are a highlight! Take one of the mattress covers if you get a chance-and try and persuade her to start selling them. Jen was great-well organised, kind, patient, full of information and stories, and really good humoured.

Jenni and her merry crew made the 6 day guided tramp of the Heaphy Trail a great experience. It was a long, tough hike but she was well organized, a fantastic cheerleader, good cook and an excellent communicator/teacher of the natural beauty around us. The tour included transport to/from Nelson, meals, hut reservations and her awesome personal support on the track. We would walk with her again in a heartbeat!

We had a wonderful 6 day trip with Jenni on the Old Ghost Rd. She and Peter carried and cooked all our food. We only had to bring our clothing. She has a passion for her work, but she’s not intrusive with her knowledge, nor overly ambitious with distances and time.
We’ve booked another trip with her next year, Covid permitting.
Btw, my husband and I are 68 years old, and aside from expected aches and pains, had absolutely no trouble with the terrain or the distance. If we had, Jenni would have pulled out her trusty first aid kit and Bob’s your uncle! :-)

Just completed the Old Ghost Road from Lyell to Seddonville (Rough & Tumble Lodge) with Jenni Kingston (owner of Kahurangi Guided Walks) and her team member Sophie. The track that has been built by the dedicated volunteers and now maintained by a Private Company is absolutely amazing!! Built mostly on an old Gold Mining track, this is for walkers and mountain bikers. The purpose built huts (which must be pre-booked) were great; very comfortable and as the weather was still mixed, the wood burners were very welcome. What really made this trip was the brilliant preparations and meals provided by Jenni - who would have thought we would be eating locally smoked hot salmon and a quinoa salad up in the wilds of Kahurangi National Park! Day after day Jenni magically produced delicious meals and snacks - her date treats to die for! Other travellers pouring hot water into travel meal sachets looked on in awe as we sat down to incredible food.
This was an amazing multi-day walk!

Fabulous 5-6 days with Taj as guide on the Heaphy. All logistics sorted, knowledge of the track, forest and bird life excellent. Taj and Jenni are definitely passionate about the Kahurangi National Park and it shows in their enthusiasm to share this with others. We could have done this walk unguided but with limited time to organise and plan, it was great to have this done for us. The other added benefit is the explanations of what we are seeing and passing through on the walk which can be easily overlooked without a guide. Looking forward to walking again with Kahurangi Guided Walks. Many thanks Taj and Jenni.

Walked the Healy with Jenni who added so much to what is a fantastic walk with her knowledge, enthusiasm and love of all things Kiwi. The organisation was faultless from pick up in Nelson to drop off at my bus stop at the end. I could have walked the Healy alone but I'm glad I walked with Kahurangi as it added so much to the experience. The meals Jenni provided along the track would not be out of place in a 5 star restaurant and were the envy of other hikers with their dehydrated mush.
Thanks to Jenni - Master Chef of the Heapy huts - for a great experience.

I had a great guided day walk from Marahau to Anchorage Bay in Abel Tasman. Taj picked me up and dropped me off at the B&B where I was staying on the Pina peninsula. Taj was knowledgeable and informative. The lunch was a fantastic picnic. We took the water taxi from Anchorage Bay back to Marahau. On the drive back, Taj stopped at the cherry stand where I had the best homemade cherry ice cream ever. I would highly recommend this company for day or multi day trips.

I did the 5 day Heaphy Track with these guys. Jenni, guide/owner, was awesome. Nothing was too much trouble and everything was always done with a happy smile on her face. Lovely meals provided, and they offer healthy options and support local businesses. Seem happy to cater for different dietary requirements. Jenni is a local who is very experienced, knowledgeable and is a great asset promoting the region. Taj, the other guide/owner, also seems like a lovely guy. You won't go wrong booking with these guys. They seem very flexible about what they can offer keen walkers.

We had a great time. It was individualised and we did not have to follow a guide although the guide would also be willing for us to do so. Excellent value for money. While the food was not gourmet this is not what fits with the DOC cottages. Everything was catered for an always optimistic. Thank you
