The grounds and the gardens are the attraction here and we enjoyed a conversation with two of the National Trust gardeners who were working the property. House is interesting, tea room for lunch is fine, but the ruins of the old castle and the grounds...More

I have to claim some bias here as I live within walking distance of Scotney. We visit throughout the year and never tire of the stunning grounds and variety to be found. There are three marked-out walks on the grounds where you follow colour-coded posts...More

A really great day out walking around the grounds of Scotney Castle. The grounds are really well kept and it is very scenic, a great place for photography (as long as you get there early before the hoards of people!

Really enjoyed this visit which included the gardens, manor house and the old castle. We took friends with us for the day and it made a really pleasant outing.

This is a well run NT property, with good knowledgeable room staff. They restrict numbers, with timed tickets, so that it is never crowded. For me the gardens were the best part especially those in the castle ruins.

National Trust property, great gardens, house and castle by the lake. Good to visit all round the year, good café serving reasonable food. OK for dogs on leads
