Hampton Downs Motorsport Park is a world class motorsport park and events centre based in the North Waikato. Home to the biggest events in New Zealand and offering a range of adrenaline-pumping experiences, Hampton Downs Motorsport Park is your one-stop adventure destination. The now-famous Hampton Downs Go Karts are a must-do experience. The modern 270cc Karts and the undulating 530m outdoor track makes for an exhilarating experience. Experience the track from behind the steering wheel of one of our V8 Muscle cars or get behind the wheel of our Radical SR3 for the thrill of a lifetime. Great Kmart track but the reception staff almost ruined the whole experiance, rude as like they didn't want to be working there, who knows, she may have been super hangover from the night before and taking it out on the customers, either way the service is lucky to get a one star.

I did the karting and my kart was 2 seconds a lap slower in full throttle areas. I was doing around the same speeds in corners but losing so much when full accelerating (i am 41 kg or something so light too) This was my first bad experience here after going over 5 other times.

The Jeep Wrangler 4WD Experience was a gift for my 18yo daughter. She loved the experience, and had a great instructor. The course is well set up for someone who has never done 4WD before - several different types of thrills.
Two unexpected factors - only eight minutes behind the wheel on the 4WD course, and the $2000 bond you have to pay before being allowed to proceed. The website said a thirty minute experience (hopefully they have changed this, after my feedback on the day), and maybe that bond was mentioned in the fine print but we weren't aware of it. Imagine if something unexpected had happened and the 8 mins had cost us over $2000!
As long as you are aware of those two things, you should have a great time.

Drive a car if you want to go around corners !!! I felt I was constantly braking and turning corners - I never got to drive in a straight line, which means you don't get to drive the car properly. I was in the Camaro and it also have very squeaky brakes, which were so loud. I was so looking forward to this and it costs so much money that you want to get the most out of the experience but I was left really dissapointed.

The amazing staff, at the reception and check-in make you feel at ease right from the beginning. The young guy strapping me in the car and the driver also helped put me at ease. The car felt really safe at all times and the driver did not put a foot wrong even at the incredible speed we achieved, some where close to 240 kph. Would i do it again yes in a heartbeat.

health and safety has taken away all the fun in karting here. real shame cause it used to be really good but now its just boring. theyve restricted the karts speed and you dont even find out until youre out on the track

Fastest I have ever been. The 3 hot laps were not what I was expecting. Half the first lap spent warming Tyres and brakes then flat out. Only went over start finish line twice so 3rd lap incomplete. Mentioned the fact to company rep only to recieve a fairly cavalier response. Would advise anyone asking about it. Not good value.

Go Karts
Took my Grandsons down to Hampton Downs Go Karts for a treat, we have been a few times and the have a blast, however our latest experience was only average.
The kart I had, had issues with the governer, it stayed on for a good 10 secs longer than the other karts when re-activated. As it was a wet track we were slowed a lot so I was hardly moving, came in after a couple of laps hoping to change karts, there were none to use.
Told by staff that there was not a problem ( didn't check Kart) and to go out again, the kart was undriveable so didn't bother. Disappointing thing was they wouldn't listen to what i was saying. Noticed they took it out for a drive and then garaged it.
Never got to have fun with the boys, very disappointed.
