We are avid hikers and this is possibly the most spectacular trail we have done in our life. Carved along the wall of the canyon, the views just cannot be described. Long but technically easy, it is an absolute must. Add this to your bucket...More

Strongly recommend the trip to Cares to hike the 20km route (return). It is very easy to walk and beautiful no see. Need to visit early in the morning to escape the heat and crowd. Best to visit in september or june (off season).

A long day but well worth it for the spectacular views. We walked to Cain where we had lunch and then back.

Access to this walk is from Pontebos. Parking along the road is the best - there's generally plenty of room to turn around at the start of the track. Starts with a climb and then levels out to a fantastic walk along the Cares gorge...More

We had traveled to the Picos several years ago and from that time until now we had a desire to hike the Cares Gorge. Wow, what a beautiful, harsh, accessible and memorable hike. It is advertised as moderate. I would say that as an infrequent...More

This river flows down from the mountains and passes through the centre of town. It is shallow and the sound of the water is pleasant.
