We arrived as sun setting. Been a huge amount of rain too. Followed coast up from Ohakune and decided to make the effort to visit. We git some fantastic photos and the harsh Westcoast line lived up to it's name. Worth the visit. Not far...More

I was disappointed to drive that far for: - an inaccessible lighthouse. Seems to be on private fenced land. - an inaccessible beach below. The last stretch of road is not bad, good tar seal, but very narrow. Watch out for oncoming traffic!

This is a good place to stop when doing the Surf Highway. It’s just a few kilometres off the main road, an easy walk and good views to both the lighthouse and of the ocean.

A bit of a drive to get to but worth it. A very nice lighthouse which you can climb up to the top for a gold coin donation and inside as you climb up interesting facts are written on the walls, nice view from the...More

Beautiful lighthouse, a bit of drive to get there, but well worth it, the surrounding landscapes were just as beautiful.... a must do when you're in the vicinity

There are 2 lighthouses here. One has been there since the year 2000 and you can go inside, climb fight to the top. If you pay $2 you can operate the light up top. The other lighthouse has a bright red door and is very...More

I'm confused by the previous reviews which said you cannot get to the lighthouse. We had no problem, just up a very short driveway and then up the stairs. No access to the inside as it is still a commissioned lighthouse. It started shinning in...More

Came across this as I was looking for surf and found it to be a nice place to view the coast. It is well looked after and a good representation of lighthouses of its time
