A nice walk on a sunny day. The water at the falls is clean and clear. Great swimming hole. And is very popular with locals and can be a busy little place

Piroa Falls are magical, and only a short and easy 5 min walk each way. The pools are deep enough for a dip to cool off too.

You'll get there via a gravel road and then it's a 10 min walkway from the carpark down the steps nestled in New Zealand bush. Cross the stream on a little bridge to reach a small rest area from where you can watch the falls....More

There is a 6km drive up a gravel road to get to the falls but it is no poroblen even for a small car. As I walked down to the falls I wondered why I was bothering as the river seemed more like a small...More

We found this by accident, bit of a drive on an unsealed road off main road but worth it. Parking not very easy as parking on a "narrowish" unsealed road. Then a walk down to the stream and along to the falls. Plenty of people...More

Our family loved this falls trip. Drive was about 20 mins south of Waipu on a gravel road. Limited parking but we got there at 10.15 and had the whole falls and rock pools to ourselves for 30 mins. Just a short steep walk down...More

We carried our toddler to the Falls. Older children can swim in the water. Just parked on the road and walked few minutes down to the falls.

I only saw the falls at night when the place was lit up with glowworms. Take a torch as it’s completely pitch black but absolutely worth seeing for the natural beauty. In the day, there are plenty of rocks to jump from into the water...More

Make the effort to turn off state highway one and drive just a short distance on an unsealed road to find these falls. The walk to the falls isn't as difficult as it seems and the falls more than make up for the effort. It...More
