About
The tours must be pre-booked by phone or through our website. Enjoy a guided walk through beautiful covenanted New Zealand bush and learn about the various native trees. Climb over a stile and into a paddock with friendly alpacas. Hand feed these amazing animals and learn all about them and their beautiful soft fleeces. See and touch some of last year's fleeces exactly as they were shorn from the animal. See how a fleece looks and feels after it has been washed and carded and ready for hand spinning. Finally, see a scarf that has been made by felting the luxurious fibre onto pure silk fabric. There will be plenty of opportunity to ask questions about these gentle animals with their huge eyes and long eyelashes. For those of you interested in vintage cars, you can see a 1922 Stanley Steamer. Unfortunately we are not able to do the tour if it is raining and you need to be reasonably agile to walk up the 30 steps in the bush and climb over the stile. Details on our website kandiah.co.nz

What a fantastic experience. Sure, you can visit a farm, or many zoo’s to see Alpaca’s, but there is nothing like the close up experience of walking Alpaca’s on a beautiful beach like Bream Bay in Waipu, Northland. We arranged to have three Alpaca’s to walk, and by walk, you actually take them yourself and lead them on a one hour walk along the beach (Pav and Mark have other Alpaca’s so you can arrange to walk with more than three). The Alpaca’s are effortless to handle and will happily wade into the sea up to knee depth. Pav and Mark are the owners of the Alpaca’s, and are both great people. Pav escorts you on the walk giving full instruction and advice while leaving the Alpaca’s totally in your control. While walking along, we had many people stop and take photos, and ask questions. Funnily enough, many people mistakenly thought they were Lama’s. It takes an experience like this to make you appreciate these wonderful animals and marvel at their character. This is an inexpensive “must do” for every animal lover, and children are very welcome. We intend to do this again, because it is great. “Do it”. Thanks so much to Pav and Mark for making this all

Pav and Mark were very quick to get back to me on email so we dropped in the next day. We spent 2 hours with them and their wonderful alpacas - feeding them, stroking the more willing ones and asking all manner of questions. A guided walk around their property followed - ask Mark about steam transportation also! We can't wait to come back and take the alpacas on the beach walk. Thank you both.

We headed out with Pav today with three lovely alpacas in tow.
We had been chided back home about spending money on such an experience but myself and my seven year old daughter absolutely loved it. Pav was kind and very alert about possible interruptions around us. Her love of the animals was completely apparent.
We spent a wonderful hour with Pav and her furry friends. An experience to remember for sure.

My husband and I just returned from a 5 week vacation, touring both North and South Island in New Zealand. We spent the last two days at Kandiah in Waipu before flying back to Boston. This is the place to go for total relaxation and I would definitely recommend staying for two days. Pav and Mark were wonderful hosts and we really enjoyed their company. Our room (actually a suite) was perfect, very private and beautifully decorated. The views from both the bedroom, living area and patio were outstanding. We also did the alpaca beach walk and would highly recommend that. Alpacas are beautiful animals---each with their own personality, to boot! We enjoyed two delicious evening meals with Pav (she's a wonderful cook) and Mark (an equally wonderful conversationalist). Kandiah is a unique farmstay and I would highly recommend it. It was one of the highlights of our vacation and one that I will not forget. I only wish we could have stayed longer. It was definitely the perfect ending to a wonderful vacation.

The opportunity to take a beach walk with Alpacas was a once in a lifetime opportunity! My daughter and I found the Farmstay on the internet while planning our north island trip. The owners were gracious and welcoming in opening their home to us. The dinner was great and the accommodations lovely. There aren't enough positive words to describe the experience of walking the alpacas. Pav was patient and thorough in educating us about alpacas and in ensuring both our safety and theirs. We appreciated her trust in us, we admired her expertise and we enjoyed her delightful personality. If ever we return to NZ, we will plan a longer stay at the Kandiah Alpaca Farmstay!

Marc and Pav are the kindest and warmest hosts.
We had a great refreshing and relaxing 1 day stay at the farm.
Beautiful animals, spectacular location and coziest place that puts you at ease.
The hosts have put quite an effort into paying attention to the stay's details.
We missed our dinner but Pav's complimentary homemade bread made us think that bread can be delicious by itself.
Highly recommend when you need a reset or just have a quality time unplugged from the city bustle.

This review is not about a beach walk but about the fantastic time we had staying in a rented property on the alpaca farm.
Our hosts, Pav and Mark could not have done more for us. We had the opportunity to join Pav when she fed her alpacas and to learn so much from her about these wonderful animals.
We joined Mark and Pav to share an evening meal with them and it was a pleasure to spend time in the company of such interesting people and to marvel at what they had achieved in their little corner of paradise. Thank you so much for the experience

Just spent a lovely weekend at Kandiah. Hosts Pav and Mark are lovely chatty and very hospitable. The Alpacas are gorgeous. The accommodation is charming, super clean, and very nice. Really enjoyed our beach walk - such an amazing experience. Might insist this is my birthday present every year!

We were booked for a beach walk in winter and as the weather was very bad we went to the farm instead.
It was fantastic we got to feed the Female Alpacas look at their babies and see the Alpaca boys and feed them too.
Pav and Mark are natural hosts very lovely and friendly.
We had a wonderful day even thought the weather was a bit sad it didn't stop us from enjoying a bush walk through their beautiful property, so serene and gorgeous views. They also showed us where they host homestays and that was beautiful. Such a beautiful place! We hope to be going back very soon.......
