About
The tours must be pre-booked by phone or through our website. Enjoy a guided walk through beautiful covenanted New Zealand bush and learn about the various native trees. Climb over a stile and into a paddock with friendly alpacas. Hand feed these amazing animals and learn all about them and their beautiful soft fleeces. See and touch some of last year's fleeces exactly as they were shorn from the animal. See how a fleece looks and feels after it has been washed and carded and ready for hand spinning. Finally, see a scarf that has been made by felting the luxurious fibre onto pure silk fabric. There will be plenty of opportunity to ask questions about these gentle animals with their huge eyes and long eyelashes. For those of you interested in vintage cars, you can see a 1922 Stanley Steamer. Unfortunately we are not able to do the tour if it is raining and you need to be reasonably agile to walk up the 30 steps in the bush and climb over the stile. Details on our website kandiah.co.nz

What a great hosts Pav and Mark are. The time we spent walking through the bush while Mark gave us history of the trees and the farm itself. Pav told us so much about the alpacas and we had so much fun feeding the alpacas.
Would recommend this visit to all.

We had a fantastic fun and educational morning with Mark, Pav and their alpacas. We had a number of children aged 1-6yrs who loved learning about various native trees, enjoyed seeing how an old steam car works and LOVED feeding the alpacas and learning what happens to their fleece. Mark and Pav were so knowledgeable, accommodating and sweet. If you’ve got a baby you’ll need a carrier and there’s no signage from the main road but google maps led us straight there. Pack some water and snacks and enjoy a couple of hours in alpaca paradise.

We decided on this farm stay versus travelling to Wellington. When searching for NZ farm stay, Kandish Alpaca farm stay was among the search results. A few farm stay appears commercialized. And the idea of interacting with alpacas was appealing to us. Are we glad we chose Kandish Alpaca farm stay!! Mark and Pav are fantastic and friendly hosts. We got to know the various trees, shrubs that are unique to NZ. And we got to understand the 2 types of alpacas and the ones on the farm are the Suri ones. We got to feed them. We are free to roam and interact with the alpacas and wander around the farm. The accommodation is super cozy. We stayed for 2 nights only and would have stay longer if our time permits. This farm stay is a great way to slow down and relax, enjoying what nature and alpacas have to offer. We thorough enjoyed our stay here, away from the hustle and bustle of city life and touristy areas! I do highly recommend this!

Three generations visited and all loved the visit. Mark was a wonderful guide through the forest and Pav was so passionate about her Suri alpacas. Lots of questions from us all. Each patiently answered.
Such a special visit. Thank you so much Pav and Mark.
ps. Mark's hobbies are an added surprise!

A truly wonderful experience for us Grandparents taking our 5 x Grandkids to see and learn about Alpaca’s and our native bush. Pav and her husband made us feel very welcome. I would very much recommend this place.

The most restful and much-needed night away. Pav and Mark were so hospitable with so much attention and care made to make our stay enjoyable. From the comfy and modern accomodation, to the native bush walk and farm,to the steam car and other operations, and especially the adorable wee tribe of alpacas (which was why we really went!)...it was all incredible and we loved every moment of it. We'll definitely be back and are lucky that it's such a short trip away for us. Thank you both so much for opening you're beautiful home and lifestyle to us and for introducing us to your fur babies!

On a special trip with my soon to be 12 year old daughter to create some memories before she enters the teens. This was the highlight of her week. Pav and Mark were wonderful hosts. So generous, knowledgable and warm. My daughter loved spending time with the Alpacas. I did too but also enjoyed hearing about some of Mark and Pav’s other projects. Such a lovely locations and lovely people. Thanks so much.

The title says it all. We showed up unannounced after finding the place on Tripadvisor (would recommend calling ahead for future visitors just to make life easier on the hosts) but the hosts were very kind and even though we did not stay at the farm overnight, they still gave us a lovely tour of the farm and let us feed the alpacas.

Very warm people who had no trouble taking time out of their day to show us around and talk to us about how they take care of their friendly and beautiful pack of alpacas.

It was lovely to meet you and a pleasure to introduce you to my beloved alpacas. We were more than happy to take time out to spend with you as we had no other commitments that day. As you say, it is always best for people to call ahead of time, preferably at least 24 hours ahead to check that we are free.

What a fantastic experience. Sure, you can visit a farm, or many zoo’s to see Alpaca’s, but there is nothing like the close up experience of walking Alpaca’s on a beautiful beach like Bream Bay in Waipu, Northland. We arranged to have three Alpaca’s to walk, and by walk, you actually take them yourself and lead them on a one hour walk along the beach (Pav and Mark have other Alpaca’s so you can arrange to walk with more than three). The Alpaca’s are effortless to handle and will happily wade into the sea up to knee depth. Pav and Mark are the owners of the Alpaca’s, and are both great people. Pav escorts you on the walk giving full instruction and advice while leaving the Alpaca’s totally in your control. While walking along, we had many people stop and take photos, and ask questions. Funnily enough, many people mistakenly thought they were Lama’s. It takes an experience like this to make you appreciate these wonderful animals and marvel at their character. This is an inexpensive “must do” for every animal lover, and children are very welcome. We intend to do this again, because it is great. “Do it”. Thanks so much to Pav and Mark for making this all
