Living Chateau
Aug 2017
We visited this chateau knowing nothing about it. This is a family home open to the public on a limited basis. The grounds downstairs rooms are open to the public on a guided tour on Thursdays, The tour is in French with no translation for other languages. There is a written translated card that can be taken on the tour. Be sure to get the one for the house. We were given the one for the gardens. That said, it was the tour guide who spotted the problem and got us the card for the house. The interior is interesting as are the grounds. This is a "stocking filler" attraction and worth the visit if you are passing or have time on your hands. It will take about one to two hours visit if you include a tour of the rooms.

Interesting but unimpressive tour
Sep 2016 • Couples
There is so much potential here - a nice home and gardens but not a tourist attraction. We acknowledge it is architecturally pretty.
A major drawback for non-French speaking visitors is that they are unable to tour the house independently.
The guide on our visit spoke entirely in French and was unhelpful.

Saw a magnificent sound and light show during our recent holiday, just on for 3 nights this time, but would recommend looking out for similar experiences if you are in the area

Lovely little chateaux
Aug 2015 • Family
This is a very sweet little country noble's chateaux. 18€ for 2 adults and 2 kids to get in when we went in August. You can only go inside house itself as part of a tour and the tour was only in French, although we were given guidance notes in English. However I'm afraid my French is not up to an in depth explanation of the history of a chateaux so this is a bit of a shame as you could not just wander round at a leisurely pace and work it all out for yourself using the guidance notes. The grounds outside are lovely and we did think it was a nice place to visit but if you don't speak French you won't get much out of the tour.

Disappointing customer awareness
Jul 2015 • Couples
Visited the song and light shown at the chateau last year and although the light show was excellent it started much later than advertised with almost two hours of really bad singing before the actual light show began. It was a cold night and there was very little consideration for the needs of the audience which included many small children. Decided to visit the chateau again this summer to see the gardens and the interior of the house. Once again a disappointment. The chateau was advertised in the local tourist office and at the entrance to the drive leading up to the chateau, as opening from 14:00 hours until 18:30 in the afternoon. When we arrived just before 15:00 there was a notice on the chateau door to say the next tour was 16:00. We left and returned before 16:00 to find another notice advising that the next tour was 17:00. We feel that the owners of the chateau have little or no awareness of the needs of their customers and would not recommend the 'attraction' to anyone.

A pleasant couple of hours

A beautiful Chateaux. The tour was ok and I with very limited french could pick out what was being said. The young tour guide was open to answering questions in English also. Buildings and gardens very nice to stroke around and very relaxed.

Not enjoyable for young children
Aug 2014 • Family
We visited as a family one rainy afternoon following a recommendation. We received an information leaflet in English, but it was not at all suitable for young children. The tour was conducted in French and there was a lot of information to try and retain even if able to understand the language. Our children were bored within 5 minutes as there was nothing for them to do. I wish the guide who took our money had explained this from the start. Just some dressing up clothes or pictures/stories for them to read would have helped. I'm not entirely sure what they would have got out of walking round the grounds. We made a rapid exit after 10 minutes and did not even get as far as the tour of the chateau.

Very disappointing
Jun 2014 • Couples
We visited on the 1st June and had a leisurely stroll around the gardens which were supposed to be magnificent but in fact were very disappointing. It is very clear that there are not enough staff to tend the gardens as everywhere looked very untidy. The formal garden at the rear of the chateau is famous for its roses but very little else. The vegetable garden was very neglected and looked run down. This said the views of the chateau from the garden give plenty of photo opportunities but don't bother with the guided tour of the interior of the chateau. The tour guide will only speak rapid French and you only visit three rooms so we were very disappointed. Not at all like the National Trust and they could learn a lot from this organisation in how to sell the chateau to modern day visitors and their expectations.

Beautiful medieval house much altered and added on to. The gardens and moat are beautiful in good weather and make sure you ask the guide about the second world war story.
