Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Beautiful Shrine dedicated to Madonna di Tirano, it was built in the 16th century after the appearance of the Madonna to a citizen in 1504 and after the end of pestilence in the same century.
It’s isolated in the middle of the square with a beautiful baroque facade with three beautiful marble portals
The bell tower dominates the city and the valley

The Basillica, built where the Virgin was seen by a local person, is a palpably holy place. At 6 pm on a Tuesday, a large group of people were praying the rosary. It was very inspirational and beautiful.

You will be amazed with the interior of this church. Do not be fooled by the exterior. We were told to stop there but when we got there we questioned if we were at the right place. It looks very simple from the outside. But once you walk inside you will not be disappointed and glad you stopped in.
There is so much to see and appreciate in such a small structure. The colors and textures of all the wood and stone is unbelievable.

We walked all the way from the railway station, only to find that the church is closed for two hours over lunchtime. As we had to be back at the station in order to catch a train, we were unable to wait for the church to reopen. This was really disappointing because we had read that the interior is worth seeing.

Well worth seeing once you've reached Tirano by Bernina Express. It's just a 10-15 minute walk from the station. The church frescos and atmosphere are something to experience in a town where not much is happening.

Before proceeding to my trip with the Trenino Rosso di Bernina,I had the chance to pass by at Santuario della Beata Vergine di Tirano. It stand tall outside where people gather outside when they have celebration & the interior of the church are just so neatly place with the colored glasses.Upon entering you will be in awe how it was done.It is not as massive as a dome but looking at it,you will know how many years the church was built but still it's beauty still shines.

The other reviews tell the story. I can add only that if you have any way to to spend a few hours in Tirano, make your way here. The interior is simply stunning in so many ways; there is no other way to put it, yet on a busy summer day, we had the Santuario almost to ourselves. I suppose that is nice in one way, but it's a shame in another way that so few people who pass through Tirano experience the beauty within.
One important note about hours: outside of June through September and certain days in May, the Santuario is usually closed from 12:15 to 2:30 pm. If you work your way around the web site (in our case with the help of Google Translate), it spells out quite clearly which days they are open those hours.
This is a memorable church and memorable experience. Find a way if you can to not be among the throngs of people passing through Tirano each day who never have the incredible fortune to see it.

- Tirano may be little out of the way, but the sanctuary is no doubt worth a visit when travelling by car from Switzerland (Sankt Moritz) or on the Bernina Express.
- The inside is lavishly decorated with the usual good taste Italians usually display.

Italy has so many beautiful, inspiring churches that it’s difficult to single this one out, but seeing all of the gifts and offerings left by people making special prayer requests was quite touching.
