Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Very easy paved path to the Falls, which are obviously better in the spring. The falls once again are located on the other side of the river.

Be aware this is a popular tourist spot and parking can be a premium in the high season.

Literally a five minute walk from the car park by the road. Waterfall runs into the nearby river. Pretty - although not as large as thunder creek falls.

The throng of tourists traveling the Haast Pass is so great that it was impossible to park at this location. It was not the only scenic attraction along the road to Haast where this was a problem. This area needs more parking, or fewer tourists, or some better way to manage access.

A short 1 minute walk brings you to a delightful fall.

The area is made prettier by stone work done by people, and more get added!

Not sure why people, mostly foreigners, think it’s OK to run around piling the rocks up wherever they want, it’s so disrespectful to the natural environment and to most Kiwis. TAKE ONLY PHOTOS AND LEAVE NO TRACE.

Nice easy short walk to waterfalls. Can even cross shallow stream to get closer. Medium sized waterfall.

One of the many lovely spots worth a short stop on the Haast Pass Drive.
This one is about 40 minutes from Haast, on the left, though the car park has limited spaces.
Facing the river you will find the falls 2 minutes along the track to your right, and while they are on the opposite side of the river, you get quite close.
Walk down the riverbed to the left and you come to a series of cascades.
There’s some shady areas for a picnic but no toilets.

Well worth stopping for a look. Easy parking and great place to stretch your legs. Very short walk from car park to river bed where, during the Summer, stacking stones is a thing (see pictures). Obviously river bed only viable in dry summer months otherwise view falls from the bank.

The very popular fantail falls are located just off the main road around the West Coast. 2 minutes walk. There is a second walking track into the bush as well. Nice picnic spot but can be very popular and parking for big vehicles or trailers is limited.

Plenty of parking. A short walk to view some falls. Typical West Coast scenery. Pleasant forest walk. Worth a stop if you are driving the Haast Road.
