Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Clean, calm and safe beach. Very well maintained. Walk on the beach is superbbbb!! Rabindra Nath Tagore beach, Majali beach, Devbag beach, Kurmagad Uslabd, Elephant Island, Kali Temple, Kali Temple Mangrove Walk, Jali River Water front garden, Warship Museum, Rock Garden…. So many beautiful places to visit. One can cover all of this within two days… recommending local rickshaw rides for site seeing. Boat ride with “Prafulla”.. his sons Rupesh and Pritesh is too good. Trekking enthusiast must try “Tilmati “ beach visit !!!

This is the same as the Tagore beach which in general refers to the main beach at Karwar. The ideal time to visit is at sunrise or near the sunset as it can get extremely hot during the day. The beach was quite clean.

This is a nice beach, but doesn't have any facilities for changing clothes, or for that any shacks or beach stalls. But even on a weekend, it was not too crowded, and that point alone deserves a 4-star.

Visited Karwar after completing Angriya Ship Cruise from Mumbai in Diwali Vacation . Cruise experience is good as it is the first attempt to give Indian travelers a feel of sea travel who can not afford International costly cruises.
However ,no public transport is available from Mormugao Port for onward journey. There is a local bus stop but locals/Ship management do not give information of the same. We took a taxi to Vasco Da Gama Bus stop for Rs 300 for a small distance , from there we took a local bus to Madgaon by paying Rs 25 per person .From Madgaon took another Private non AC bus to Karwar for Rs 70 per person . Journey was beautiful , scenic and comfortable .
From Karwar Bus Depot , every 15-30 minutes , Non AC Buses are available to Gokarna via Ankola .
We took a cab to go to Murdeshwar ( Famous for Shiva temple ) , Gokarna ( Famous for OM beach ) and Mirjan Fort at Kumpta Taluka and back to Karwar Railway Station for Rs 2500 in AC Maruti Wagon R .
Warship Museum in Karwar is not well maintained . There is an Aquarium (Private), which is also not worth visiting . Kali River Garden in Karwar is ok but not having any facility for boating .
Locals said that the Shadashivgarh fort is broken and visitors are not allowed to enter these days as there is a private resort .
However , Rabindranath Tagore beach ,which is mainly called as Karwar beach is superb.
Gokarna , Murdeshwar and Mirjan Fort can be accessed from Mumbai via Luxury Buses upto Ankola and thereafter by Private Vehicle in a day trip.
Hotel Amrit Aura in Karwar is a good hotel.
Hotel Amrit in Karwar serves delicious fish called Snapper ( Rs 500) which is also good in quantity .
Hotel Gokarna at Gokarna serves tasty non veg food.
These places are beautiful and worth exploring.

Avoid visiting it as all the settlements along the beach use it in the morning for open defecating. En route Dandeli from Coorg. We stayed at Karwar for the beach. Was very filthy. Be cautious !!!@

This beach is perfect destination for solo travlers who like peace and bueatiful sea with no one interrupting them.
Secondaly best for Indian families who feel embarrassed on Goa and other beaches with families and came with home cooked food.
For food you have walk 15 min in city there are good hotels like Amrut at reasonable price.

The beach in Karwar is long stretched with golden sand. There are no shacks on the beach. You get to see some hawkers here and there in the evenings. People flock with their families every evening to watch the sunset, which is indeed very beautiful! The sound of the waves and the cool breeze soothes your nerves, however tense they may be.
One place I would recommend for everyone to have grub is Hotel Krishna Vilas - some awesome South Indian food is served here! Check it out... You will love it!

The main industry of Karwar is agriculture. As it follows, Karwar is known for its seafood cuisine. This place has many lovely beaches. It feels as though the hills are surging out of Arabian Sea and this makes for an utterly beautiful sight.Karwar offers a stunning view, replete with beautiful landscapes, clear backwaters, and rocky hills.

Beautiful and clean. Took the speed boat ride cost Rs.500 but barely lasted 5 minutes. They take you in "speed boat" capacity of 7-8 for few hundered feet. You could see the fishing trawler and the coast guard boats anchored off the beach. That's how far they will take you. Watched the 10-15 men pull huge fishing nets for 5 minutes.. It's back breaking and hard work for them under the hot sun soothed by the winds and music blasting from the big trawler. There is some eating for refreshments and snacks . Since it is in the main part of the city it is easy to walk if you stay in nearby hotels. There is Hotel Amrut Aura a new one which was not listed in online forums here. It was very nice. Hopefully they will be able to maintain it that same way. (It was 3-6 months new when we stayed there.

How is the weather in early July in Karwar

I have seen reviews of " Karwar Beach " and " Ravindranath Tagore Beach " appearing in Tripadvisor under two separate heads . I do not know if there is any real difference between these two beaches. If yes ,I would like to know the difference between these two beaches . If both beaches are one and same ,reviews can get merged under one head

The Karwar beach is mapped as the long stretch which extends along the NH while the smaller stretch with the garden/park which has an entrance is named as the Rabindranath Tagore beach/Tagore Beach...inspirations from the great poet for what behold the view.
