This is a very popular destination. The island is small and gets very crowded. It is still worth a visit. The Palace is very ornate. It has about 70 rooms. I found the grotto rooms to be the most interesting. The gardens are nice.

After two hours on Isola Madre, we continued on the boat to Isola Bella and passed by very atmospheric Isola dei Pescatore. Well, I thought that Isola Madre is paradise on Earth, but we have not seen the Baroque Gardens of Isola Bella yet... The...More

We were able to catch the ferry a few blacks from our hotel. It was about 16 Euro. A short but sweet boat ride to the island. We shop at the push cart vendors then choose a nice place for lunch. Great service but the...More

We purchased the all day ferry pass and hopped on and off all day! We enjoyed the tour of the palace and all its history but loved the grounds! Just beautiful with all the flowers and birds especially the white peacocks

Beautiful island, really lovely. Amazing garden BUT: pay attention to the Caffetteria Della Torre (located in palace’ garden) - service charge is €1.5 per person, and it’s written very small on the menu. Always good to know...

The Borromeo palace on Isola Bella is one of the most remarkable palaces we were given to see. The lake and mountains create a stunning environment for a building which is highly elaborate architecture-wise and very, very rich inside: paintings, pieces of furniture, sculptures, tapestries....More

We need at least a day to do all three island, and Isola Bella is the top of the list. A grant castle while relaxing place for a lazy afternoon.

The island was absolutely heaving but there were some nice quiet little alley ways. The palace was included in the ticket price even though we weren’t interested. It turned out to be fairly boring except for the grotto and the fantastic bedrooms which were seen...More
