Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Great place to chill and relax.
Stunning North Sea views.
Not crowded as Scheveningen or Zandvoort.
The choice is yours...

We came here one evening recently after a fairly horrible rainy day in August and having enjoyed dinner at the restaurant overlooking this beach. There was a brief, positive respite in the weather that early evening and many families with the children, dogs and bikes had ventured out to catch the end of the day and watch the sunset. We got as far as the bronze statue "De Strandvonder - Simon Gutker" by John Bier. From his magnificent vantage point we could see the beach below stretching out in both directions. Surely on a lovely hot day this must be a lovely beach paradise. There is cafe/restaurant on the beach as well as a lifeguard station. Behind the dunes there is a safe lagoon for the kids and water sport enthusiasts which was apparently constructed when the sea defences were strengthened.
I read that the coast between Camperduin and Petten to the north, was for many years dominated by the Hondsbossche Sea Defence; a 5.5-kilometre paved dike that protected the land against the sea. This has since been extended with more beach.
As you stare out to see as the sun slowly sinks in the sky it is fascinating to think that this place was named after The Battle of Camperdown (Zeeslag bij Kamperduin). This was a major naval action fought on 11 October 1797, between the British North Sea Fleet under Admiral Adam Duncan and a Dutch Navy fleet under Vice-Admiral Jan de Winter. The Brits won hands down...

We visited early on a Sunday morning when the weather was still a bit hazy but it was 23 degrees. There was a little breeze and that made the trip even better! We parked close to the beach for a very reasonable price €6/day. There was a restaurant with large restrooms where it's possible to change your clothes.
The beach was sandy and yellow/white. There was scattering of shells everywhere. walking into the water you could feel the shells under your feet. There was a shallow lagoon of sorts protected by dunes all around. Also a giant play ship for climbing and running. This area was great for our small children. We brought shovels and pails with us. There is lots of room for floating toys as well.
We walked out to the North Sea and were pleasantly surprised by the clean beach. There were surfers and swimmers. Some people were flying kites as well. There are not a lot of vendors and such so it's a really calm and lovely place to visit for the day.
We stayed until early afternoon, and activity was picking up but it was far from crowded or busy. I would highly recommend this location if you are looking for nature and peace. Swimming in the sea was refreshing but not too cold. The sand is soft and easy to play in. There is plenty to do if you like, but if you prefer to relax, it was also perfect for this!

It is a wonderful place for the families to have a vacation - no bothering traders, just you and nature. Excellent place for kiting, surfing or other water sport activities.

With the new dunes and the wide open space this beach is beautiful. So much or so little to do the choice is yours. There are cycle tracks , walking routes, a lagoon out of any winds, lots of space and a couple of cafes should you wish to sit on a terrase and take in the views!
