Park is about 7km of the main road. Park is nice spot for a play/ lunch/walk. Walk to lookout (304m) is not easy as brochure states. Its a steep walk in spots and requires good shoes. View is good over plains to the south.

The well surfaced and clearly marked short trails from the play area are superb for exploring the ancient native forest . The dense canopy and trees covered with epiphytes are a rare insight into the old NZ.
