I literally found artist Gavin Thomson by chance. I was camper van holidaying in Curio Bay with my husband, and a woman behind reception at the office was wearing a striking pounamu round necklace. I asked her who made it, and she wrote down the artist's name, Gavin Thomson, and said I would find him on Facebook. That evening I found his profile page, and saw a stunning carved pounamu he just posted for sale. I messaged Gavin to enquire after making this purchase. Gavin works out of his home, in Merino Downs, outside Gore, and sells pieces through Facebook. Sadly, by the time we connected through Facebook message, we had driven a hundred kilometres to our next destination, and I missed meeting Gavin personally. Lucky for me, Gavin had family who were returning to a town where we were staying the next night, and were willing to bring me this gorgeous pounamu - a gift for my mother. Gavin's pieces are beautiful and reasonably priced. The best way to reach Gavin is through his Facebook store front.
