Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

the most frustrating tourist attraction ever. All the post codes lead you to a small road where the locals go mad as we have to be careful not to run over playing kids. It was mining town but impossible to find the car park that leads to the site. £ people 3 phones and 1 sat nav. We had to leave with the picture taken from a distance very upsetting

Trails are great for walking. Fantastic view from the top of Lens, and Vimy Ridge memorial visable. Great vantage point to ponder WW1

Beautiful place to walk and spend some time surrounded by nature. Hills are not very steep, so there is not a problem to reach the top for almost everybody and enjoy the view.

Walked up to the site from town. We went past the old miners cottages which were interesting. The site itself has the majority of the old mine buildings but mainly not open to the public. There is a small visitors centre where the cold lemonade on sale was welcome. Sadly as it had taken longer than expected to walk there we could not. Limb the hills.

Easy to find and accessible, magic view from the top. A bit of effort to reach the top, and then an enormous view unfolds itself.

In short, this 'attraction' is a climb up a very tall pyramid of mining spoil. At least half of the ascent is via an access road and then most of the remainder is on a prepared, albeit steep slope. The last 20 metres or so is a steep climb up a slope which looks like it once featured steps but alas leaves you to clamber as best you can. I wouldn't advise attempting it on a wet day (you need to be cautious on the descent) but it is short enough to be easily do-able with a modicum of care.

One note of caution: dont follow the advice provided by another english reviewer to park in Rue Leon Blum. Google labels 2 unadjacent streets in the vicinity with this name which I suspect is a mistake. The Rue Leon Blum our satnav took us to is a good 25 mins walk from where you need to be. What you should do is to follow signs for "Base 11/19" and park in the former mining complex. This is very near the intersection of Rue Emilienne Moreau and Rue de Bourgogne.

The return walk will take you about an hour and on a clear day you will be rewarded with a great panorama of a fascinating industrial landscape.

Plus there is a nice visitorscentre on the site, possibility to visit some of the buildings on site.
If you are in to walk up the stonehills, it is possible.

We faced a mystery as were never able to go at the bottom and climb!! We drove around and around and this is how we were able to see them. Directions to go to the bottom would really be great! Even from far there are really huge and good to be seen.

The self guided tour starts at the parking of the site in the Leon Blum street, follows the pedestrian bridge over the highway and ends after a slow climb with a 360° view. Just a nice walk, the pollution over Lens takes away part of the fun. Less than 2 hours to and from the top of the cone.
