We just went on an exciting and unforgettable family trip!! The ratpanat agency has been wonderful, an adventure full of memories to last a lifetime.
The best of all without a doubt has been our guide Thadeus Lyimo, if you have the opportunity to ask him as a guide for the adventure. Very fun, attentive and charming!! He does everything possible to look for all kinds of animals so that the adventure is complete and, on top of that, hilarious, a great success!!

We have lived a beautiful and intense adventure in Africa with Agence Ratpanat. It will certainly be an unforgettable memory for many reasons.
The surprise has been meeting our guide Thadeus Lyimo, turned the Safarí into a much more pleasant experience. He is very professional and always in a good mood. It is essential to have professionals so that you can enjoy the trip to the maximum

I thought I would write this to provide an overview of this particular safari. We booked it through First Choice and it used the Pollman (Kenya) and Ranger (Tanzania) companies. This safari involves a lot of driving outside the realms of the game drives and animal sightseeing and we clocked up over 2000km in a week. The roads can be very very rough so you should consider this if you have back problems or if you are pregnant. Stops en route can be few and far between with around 3 hours driving with no comfort break so do consider this if this would be an issue for you. You must pack all of your belongings in a soft bag weighing less than 15kg so a holdall would be suitable but not a suitcase. This is so the driver can easily pack your belongings in the boot of the safari vehicle when moving from one lodge to another. The lodges are very nice but people tend not to dress for dinner. If you are happy to go casual after a long hot shower following a dusty, hot drive or safari game drive then this trip is for you. There are no ballgowns, spas or salons to be seen here! I travelled with my family including two sons aged 13 and 10. Be prepared for long drives with fully charged up gadgets to keep children occupied when travelling between parks! Sometimes we would be driving for up to nine hours a day. However, I would book this trip again tomorrow if I had the chance. We saw elephants, hippos, many lions, giraffes, cheetah, leopard, zebra, wildebeest, baboons and monkeys, hyena, jackal, crocs and many more animals and birds in their natural environment. The life you see en route and the differences between Kenya and Tanzania are also fascinating - who would have thought the ideal transport for a family of four + luggage was a simple motorbike! The quality of the accommodation used was excellent too. Be prepared for a variety of standards of toilet during comfort breaks including holes in the ground! I would always carry a loo roll, wet wipes and hand sanitizer as well as insect repellent. Tsetse flies are abundant and active during the day in Tanzania and mosquitoes are abundant at night in all places apart from Ngorongoro which is at too high an altitude for them to exist. Tsetse flies are attracted to blue and black clothing so avoid clothing of this colour if you can. The transfer out of Kenya and into Tanzania involved two immigration counters which were arduous with long queues and form filling. Be prepared for this, be patient and try and enjoy the adventure! We were not asked for our yellow fever certificates at any time but I would be prepared and have the vaccination and documentation anyway as they have the right to refuse entry to Tanzania without it. The safari drivers provide bottled water so you will not have to purchase this. Do keep hydrated as it is hot and dusty but don't drink too much as comfort breaks are limited and you can't just pop behind a bush when big cats may be about! We travelled during mid August and the weather was great. The rainy season has ended and it’s not too hot. Animals are plentiful and quite easily visible.

This is our 2nd trip with Gate1 & so far, this company has exceeded our expectations. Thanks to our expert guide, Daniel, we saw the "Big 5" and the much anticipated Wildebeest river crossing. It was spectacular! This Gate1 adventure included visits to a diversity of game reserves & lovely accommodations, combined with excellent customer service. Overall, Gate1 creates lifelong memories & is a great value for the price.

I have been back home for three months and I still find my mind wandering back to East Africa. I must say that I met some of the most hospitable people on earth especially the friends I made in just three weeks and the experiences that traveling with Africa Remote Safaris afforded me.
In a way East Africa worked its way into my bloodstream and ARS found a perfect balance between educating us about our surroundings and letting the splendor of the location speak for itself. No feeling in the world compares to riding down the winding streets of Stone in the local ‘Dala Dala bus’ or meeting the ‘Jemps’ indigenious tribe off Lake Baringo. Sounds cheesy to say I will never forget this trip. It was like nothing I have ever experienced before, in the best possible way.
My friend and I had spent months researching about the trip because we did not want to go through Tour agents. As a matter of fact, we basically noted down some suggested companies on TA, put down some contacts and flew on a Package flight to Mombasa , while in Mombasa we stayed at Capricho cottages where we made our contact with Christine of Africa Remote Safaris. She managed to arrange our trip within a day and also booked our Train tickets to Nairobi. The train ride though adventurous took a toll (12hrs) on us, if I had to do it again. I would have preferred flying. Nevertheless, they were able to change our Itinerary since it was too late in the day to take the drive to Maasai Mara. We drove to Lake Nakuru for an overnight stay outside the Lake Nakuru National Park.( Waterbuck hotel) The next morning we were early into the park and although we had experienced some rainfall, there were some flamingoes on this day…The water level had risen so much that most of the Acacia trees were submerged in water. Our highlight of Lake Nakuru was seeing a family of 5 Rhinos that our Evans(our guide) sadly informed us last month that they were gunned down by poachers. We left Morning for Lake Baringo where again floods had swept away what remained of the Lake Baringo country Club. We ended up camping at the Island Camp which was spectacular. A thousand and one nights is the correct description clear skys with Stars was a sight to behold. Hearing Hippos right outside our tents was nerve wrecking but a great experience. The following morning Paul a local guide from the Turgen Tribe took us around the Island and to his village where we had Lunch(Smoked fish) and Ugerlee.. a local meal ,baked with corn. We visited the caves and saw dozens of Birds species. We also learnt how to milk a goat.
The following day to woke up early since we wanted to view Kerio Valley and also visit Kabarnet town where some of Kenya’s prominent runners hail from. The roads were PERFECT; I think the best in Kenya. We continued to Maasai Mara via Bomet road(where we stopped to visit a local school).
We arrived at our camp outside Talek late in the evening and missed the game drive. The camp proved to be beyond what we had expected, surprisingly, we had beds and hot water. Ben the cook was exceptional. (20 years experience). Three nights spent in Maasai Mara, I could go on and on about the game drives but can never forget the sight of meeting a pride of 16(yes 16)! Lions together on our last day.(having missed out 2 days) Since we had seen all the Big five. I wondered if Evans the guide had choreographed that moment.
On the 6th day, we left for the sleepy town of Mwanza via Isbania border where we changed Cars and were introduced to Shaffie our Tanzanian guide. We spend the night at Speke Bay Lodge. (This drive took us almost 10hrs) where we met a very rude manager(owner) who had no meals prepared for us since we arrived after dinner(we were the only guests) . All the same we were happy to just shower and sleep after the drive. By 10am the following morning we were in the Serengeti where we spent two nights at Ikoma Safari camp operated by a German manager/Owner?(cant recall his name) .
Our safari also took us to Ngorongoro crater and lake Manyara. I will be posting in the Tanzania forum of our experiences especially in Nyika and Mto wa mbuu.
After Tanzania we travelled back via Arusha to Amboseli with the only lows being the 20 minute wait for Evans at the border. We spent another night at Kibo Safari camp, with the Mt Kilimanjaro within our sights. We were back in Nairobi the following day and connected a Precision air flight to Zanzibar.
All in all I want to thank Africa Remote Safaris, especially our guides Evans and Shaffie whose knowledge, companionship and experience made this trip truly magical and enriching.

Recently completed a trip to Kenya and Tanzania that I haqd booked through CANADIAN HIMALYAN EXPEDITIONS, they specialize in Africa, India, Nepal and other adventure seking
types of trips.
I went solo, so I was initially a bit nervous about the trip but with the expertly fine tuned itinerary that the tour co created, I quicky became confident that my trip would be full of great adventures without the worry of being alone in Africa. The multiple days of safari thru the
unspoiled kenyan back country and the expansive serengeti in Tanzania was unforgettable.
Cruising around in my Landcruiser with a trusty, friendly and informed guides made all the difference in finding exotic creatures hidden in the bush.
I also climbed Kilimanjaro and at age 53, an expert guide to help you achieve your goals was
invaluable. Their timing was impeccable,we reached the summit at sunrise, well prepared and
feeling good.
The food was delicious and the camps were always clean and well organized.
If I make it back to Africa, and someday I hope I do, as the country is amazingly beautiful I wouldn't look elsewhere for a travel agency. Their ability to customize the trip through deep
and long standing connections in Africa is unusual and special.

Mark Nolting, Pres. of The Africa Adventure Co. out of Ft. Lauderdale FL and his wonderful competent team planned our Sept. 2014 Safari to
Tanzania and Kenya. Mark has been in the Africa Safari business for almost 30 years. He is a walking encyclopedia on Africa. We trust his judgement because of his amazingly fine reputation and have adored working with his company. It is the creme of the crop. Mark and team doesn't miss a trick. The Co. has its own air dept. so the trip was totally arranged by AAC. Mark connects his travelers with excellent ground services using Pollman Safaris as well as Ranger Safaris. AAC is there to advise, revise one's itinerary with the customer's input, helps w obtaining visas, and puts together your trip which will be a top experience of your lifetime. His staff's communicatioin with the traveler is beyond one's imagination. Communication back and forth is excellent in the planning stages. Questions are answered the same day. This company has won numerous impressive awards in the African travel business. Go to the website and see for yourself. Another amazing fact is that Mark Nolting knows personally all his ground guides. He selected two that were phenomenal for us, Ephata Lotashu in Tanzania and Joseph Gichucki in Kenya. They made our trip what it was. The lodges, the day trips, the food, the service at all lodges, the staff at all, including restaurants, and the main attractions for us which were the daily game drives were all so well planned and enjoyed. The quality of this whole trip was extremely impressive, again totally arranged by The Africa Adventure Co. Tanzania game viewing sites of wonder for us were the Ngorongoro Crater (Caldera),Tarangire National Park, Lake Manyara Reserve, and in Kenya the Maasai Mara. We look forward to returning to Africa with another trip planned only by the AAC.

Just back from a "beyond belief" trip to a part of the world that's been # 1 on my Bucket List for as long as I can remember.
This was a "get-your-feet-wet" safari so did Lake Manyara, The Ngorongoro Crater & The Serengeti to sample 3 eco systems in 7 days.
We were a group of 22 celebrating our 45th College Reunion.
Senior Citizens are, arguably, the most pernickety of travelers so Sunworld had their work cut out for them.
Boy, did they deliver!!!
Thanx to Gabrielle's spot-on advice; Nighat's (at their sister concern, 4x4 Safaris in Arusha) above-the-call-of-duty assistance and our tour co-coordinator, Joanne's limitless patience (over 100 emails!!!) & attention to detail & willingness to entertain & answer even the most idiotic of queries, I doubt if even a frown was shared 'tween the 22 of us.
I would strongly recommend you not look beyond this Tour Operator.
Their choices of accommodations, their fleet of safari vans, the attitude of their excellent & hugely knowledgeable driver/guides (tip 'o' the cap to Arnold, Jeremiah, James & Julius) were beyond reproach.
All in all, "a jolly god tyme was had by all"---but that's 'nother story.

Safari with Tro peaks was incredible! We had a very good car and a chef (Suri) and a very knowledgeable guide/good driver ( Arnold). Suri made us delicious food ( different everyday) in huge quantities. He is very pleasant and cheerful man. Arnold knew a lot about animals and plants and birds and was very attentive to us. He would stop the car whenever he saw us trying to take pictures from the windows and would wait patiently. He also assembled our tents and taught me how to do it! The campsites chosen by Tro peaks had showers and toilets. I was impressed with the presence of hot water and relative cleanness in the middle of nowhere! We spotted all the animals except for Rhinos as apparently most of them were poached years back and only handful left which are hard to find in the vast expanse of Ngorogoro crater! I would definitely recommend doing safari with Tro peaks for its reasonable price, individual approach, attention to details and most of all professionalism in everything they do!

I, My Wife and our two kids James and Sarah, did the 13 day safari offered by Bushtroop Safaris, covering Kenya and Tanzania. The experience was amazing being the Wildbeest migration season. we saw every kind of animal including the big 5 and were lucky enough to see a live kill, lions mating and many lion cubs in the wild. Our itinerary covered Lake Nakaru, Lake Naivasha, Masai Mara, Serengeti, Ngorrongoro and Manyara. We had boat safari in Lake Naivasha and the Hot air balloon ride over the Masai Mara. Our guide for the Kenya side of the tour was wonderful and so passionate about his job that it made it a wonderful experience for us. Things to watch out for if you select the budget/economy safari is that it is very budget! The tanzania side of the safari is on public camp sites in the Serengeti and in Ngorrongoro. Overall very happy that we did the safari experience and would do it again with Bushtroop little more "luxury" this time!
