Spent a wonderful week in paradise! Made a great decision to stay above these fantastic caves at the Anaiki Motels. Walked down through the caves the night we arrived (with torches) at low tide and I feel the night experience was just as good as the day! Lovely pools in the cave to the right of the walkway. Plenty of fish. Under water camera was great in Niue. This is a must do! You won’t be disappointed!

Steep short walk down to pools. Very slippery so take care. There is a large pool filled with fresh/sea water and very pretty. A few blue fish in there.

This little cave is a truly mast do for walkers, snorkelers and divers. Amazing colors, great coral formations, overall impression is huge. There are dipper part of the cave where we didn't go (definitely need scuba here), but as well small arch very cool to free-dive under (need to do that at a decent speed to avoid to be trapped on the sharp ceiling of the arch). Great fish as well and crystal clear water.
Access to the cave is very easy and suitable for all ages, except wheelchairs (sorry).

This was the BEST place to snorkel if you get the tide right. Walk out over the reef at low tide and you can gently walk off the edge of the reef into 30m plus of clear blue! See Parrot fish making sand....and all kinds of other fish and schools of thousands of fish. This was amazing and my highlight

This is a short walk reef shoes a must, the caves are amazing and at low tide you can walk the reef for ages. So many rock pools with live coral, sea slugs and tropical fish so much to explore. Nice to see the new coral growing after the cyclone damaged so much of the reef. The snorkelling is great, the rock formations are out of this world, mother nature at her best. You can spend hours here, it is a magic place.

We had planned on doing the low tide pools at Hikutavake, but the low tide wasn't low enough on the day we visited, so we drove back down to Avaiki Caves and I'm so glad we did. It's absolutely spectacular. You walk out onto the reef, turn right and there it is. The water is crystal clear and the rock formations are breathtaking. There is a track through the rocks to climb up and around to jumping platform - great for teens and adults alike! There's also a small pool where you can swim through the holes in the rock underwater - I was too scared but my husband loved it! Absolutely a must do while on Niue.

This was my most favourite place to visit in Niue, I went twice. The first time we just swam in the cave and spent ages there. The second time I went back with a mask and snorkel (flippers not required in the cave).
It is one of the most beautiful places I've been to, I feel me describing it does not do it justice. The water is stunning, there are heaps of fish, the coral is beautiful.
Go later in the afternoon so the sun shines into the cave for an extra magical experience (it is still gorgeous with out the sun though!).
The cave is perfectly accessible in jandals or sandals, though reef shoes make it a wee bit easier, especially if you want to explore the reef around the cave.

A nice walk to the cave with a great view of the ocean when you get there. We went there when the tide was up so did not snorkel.

After a short walk including a scramble over rocks ( reef shoes or walkers essential) at low tide head around to the right for impressive cave and pool views. Togs and snorkel required if you want to take a quick dip

Since Niue is all reef, I would advise taking a good pair of beach shoes. The tourism board have gone to a lot of effort to try and make the sea tracks more accessible whilst trying to maintain the integrity of the natural surroundings. There's one or 2 slippery bits, but for the most part it's relatively easy to get to.
It's not recommended to dive off the reefs, because of the surf and all the coral. That's a really good way to get all scraped up. Safer to snorkel off a boat.
