So Big
Jun 2021
We visited at night so we could see the glow worms, We were not disappointed. This is a very big cavern and worth the trip. You need to go right into the cave to see the glow worms.

We were under prepared with only cellphones for torches but still managed to have a good look around. Was very slippery so need good footwear. Will go back with head torches next time.

A little adventure
Mar 2021
This was an unexpected adventure after visiting pancake rocks and an easy walk from the visitors centre. Take a torch and a some good shoes and your set. Have fun!

Great fun

It's a big cave with no path. Wet, cold, dark and muddy. Take a touch, a pair of good shoes and enjoy exploring!!

Maybe I'm no longer a cave man....

But it was worth a 2 minute stop to nosey around. It's a good size cave that's worth a quick stop if you brought a torch.

PICTURESQUE SETTING.
Mar 2020
It is located in Paparoa National Park and it is a Karst cave, surrounded by native forest and cliffs.

Loved exploring the Cavern.
Jan 2021
The Cavern is a super cool cave to explore, with lots of twists and turns. You will need a torch, as it is super dark in there.

Cool stop
Feb 2020
This is a cool stop along the road. You would need a bright light source as it is quite dark. Have fun exploring!

Muddy fun
Oct 2020 • Couples
Quick adventure. Take a BRIGHT torch. Mobile phone light is just sucked up in the blackness. Prepare to get very dirty and a bit wet. A couple of flow stone formations to see and a few tiny stalactites. I suspect most were broken off decades ago. We didn't see the advertised glow worms and yes we turned off our torches before looking! Recommended.

Torch required
Jul 2020
You really need a headtorch to be able to see properly. Can be very slippery and there are stairs and a lot of ducking. We got half way in and our torches werent good enough to go further. Just 500m pasted the blowhole on the otherside of the road. There is a small place to pull into to park.
