This is a beautiful part of the world, fully experienced by kayaking up the river. The staff were helpful. The equipment was in good condition. The river was easy for someone with a moderate level of fitness.

We took 2 of our own paddle boards and rented a couple of kayaks for the rest of our group. Access to the river and the rental shop is right near the road and easy to find.It was really easy to get everything in the water and there is no messing about with annoying paperwork. My friend had to rent a kayak as me and my friend and a double one anyway. The lovely woman that worked there let us borrow booties and buoyancy aid for free. Very helpful at telling us where to kayak in the river and where the shallow bits are

We brought our own kayak so we needed one more. We hired one and they also gave the other two of us free lifejacket and bootie hire. The views on this river are spectacular. Crystal clear water however there are some strong currents to beware of this! Fantastic afternoon out.

The area is so beautiful, especially when kayaking the river. We took our kids, 10, 8 and 6. They really enjoyed themselves. Money well spent :)

Great morning spent canoeing up one of the most stunning rivers we have been on. Owner was very friendly and we loved checking out his art work.

Found this gem along Hwy 6 on the south Island and I am so glad I did. I've never been kayaking before but Ken & Jeanette at Punakaiki Canoes were so helpful and suited us up and we were out without a hitch. It was so beautiful on the river as you can see from the photos and a great... More

This was a great experience, the river is very beautiful and there were some exciting bits for people who are not used to river kayaking. It was so silent out there and the gear, while not new was fine and the owner helpful.
