Great family fun

Had a great time on the Pororari River with our family of four (including our two boys aged 11 and 8). Ken was pretty laid back and helpful, but not in your face at all. We had a... read more

Had a great time on the Pororari River with our family of four (including our two boys aged 11 and 8). Ken was pretty laid back and helpful, but not in your face at all. We had a beautiful day which really showed off the river and surrounding natural landscape at its very best. Even the upstream half of our... More

My husband and I hired two kayaks for two hours in the early afternoon and were the only people on the river as you can go up the river without a guide. The 2 hours went by so quickly as we paddled up the river (getting out a couple of times to drag the kayaks over the shallows parts as... More

This river winds it's way through the most stunning rainforest scenery and experiencing it by kayak is perfect. You can stop paddling and just float along listening to the sounds of the jungle. We thoroughly enjoyed our trip and were in awe of the scenery. Owner was friendly and helpful, we enjoyed this more than the pancake rocks!

Even though it was cloudy and raining a bit we had a wonderful time. Views to die for and if you stop paddling you hear only the noise of the jungle. Friendly staff.

Arrived here with no advance booking and immediately got sorted out with a double canoe. Shown where to go and what side of the river to stay on. Views as you paddle up are utterly amazing especially the further you go where the cliffs start to close in on you. Wildlife in abundance and in fact slowly paddled past a... More

I personally think the Porarari river is one of the most beautiful rivers in NZ, the scenery around here is stunning. Kayaking up and down the river was a great experience and lots of fun!

Had half the day free in the area so decided to look what to do and so happy I did the canoeing! I would personally rank this about the pancake rocks themselves. The price is pretty cheap (compared with kayak tours in NZ). 40NZD for 2h and 5NZD extra every additional hour. They provide you with a airtight container for... More

The guy that runs the place is really funny and very accommodating. He's never closed, there is a button you push to call him if he's not there and he will show up a minute or two later. We went on a rainy day and it was gorgeous. Not as strenuous as you might think it would be but definitely... More

Super friendly owners and the most amazing river I've ever kayaked down. The scenery along the river blew my mind. Felt like I was kayaking through Jurassic Park. Don't miss this if you go to Punakaiki.

A great kayak up river. A few places you have to walk but its definitely worth it. The scenery us incredible and its a great ride back down the river with some mild rapids. Places to stop and have breaks along the way too :)
