This is a great walk for anyone in this region looking for a bit of nature. The track takes you along a small river for about 3 kms along a very well maintained track. It is not a loop so the walk in and out...More

Loved it! You can decide between a 1-3 hours walk (one way). The nature is great and the river lovely. I walked until the swingbridge which is also very cool. You don't have to be very sportive or used in walks. Do that if you...More

An easy walk alongside the river, passing through woodland with many old trees draped with lichens. Shame you have to return by the same path.

Easy 1h track or 2h if you do the loop. Alternatively you can rent a kayak and do 1-3 of the root by paddling.

Well maintained walking track along the river. Great views. Fantastic wildlife - including a sun bathing dragonfly. Around every corner you are met with a surprise. Be it full of glimpses of the spectacular clear river, people canoe paddling, or the clever people sunbathing and...More

The trail along the Pororari River is very nice. If you go out about 4 miles you can connect with another trails that comes back in vicinity of the Pancake Rocks. Freedom Camping at the trailhead on the river too.

You’ll appreciate this valley as soon as you enter it. Dense varied forests rising up the side of sheer mountains, with an idyllic stream bubbling through the middle (the kayaking looks like a good option for next time). There’s a good lookout just ten minutes...More
