Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We had such a lovely interaction with the lady on duty in the Waihi information centre on Sunday 11 July. She helped us with suggestions for hiring e bikes to ride the Waihi to Paeroa trail through the Karangahake Gorge. Nothing was too much trouble & we were well looked after. Great bikes too!

We visited the Waihi Visitor Information Centre as part of the Waihi Gold Mine tour. The ladies were very helpful. Then days later helped our daughter who was stuck waiting for a bus to Thames.

I can't even begin to write how thankful I am to the person that helped us find accommodation on 3rd January 2020, after opening hours on a Friday, after arriving in Waihi late and fairly nervous about not having anywhere to stay. Although closing up and on her way home, she was happy to come out with a map and go through a few suggestions, smiling the whole time and reassuring us that we'd be just fine. Thank you!

Picked up some really interesting material on Waihi. For us, the main attraction is the gorgeous beach and then the overpriced gold mine. We gathered other info on the Arts Museum, the railway, campsites and cafe / restaurants - useful.

It is a good information centre, with plenty reference stuffs, local maps and brochures, and also a souvenir shop. However, the strong point of this place is its close relationship with Waihi Gold Mine, a really important part of the long history of this small township. So, this I-Site is also a ticket counter for the Martha Goldmine tour, a good tour with reasonable price where visitors can learn some more details about the current goldmine operations, as well as the history of the Martha Goldmine started sometime more than 100 years ago. At the rear lower floor of this I-Site there is a small museum with all related information and stuff about the gold mine in the past. Friendly services at the help desk by two female staffs.

There's the usual tourist souvenirs for sale, and some gold themed and gold items. And the brochures and pamphlets of local and some distant attractions. But mostly, they're trying to sell tickets for the Gold Discovery Centre, which seemed extremely overpriced. When we wanted to buy one of the necklaces, the attendant wasn't all that friendly.

Had we not stopped talking to the old guy in the i-site, he would have told us many more stories: really nice. He even recommended the best fish'n chip in Waihi Beach.Thank you!
