Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Surprised to find this place on a road seemingly in the middle of nowhere. A nice range of odds and ends. Everything seemed a reasonable price.

Went to have a look at the shop. Walked in - woman behind counter wearing NO mask said about signing in - I said I was doing a manual entry but the way she said it put my husband off and he left. I am unable to wear a mask and have a card around my neck to explain my medical exemption. Didn't stop the only other person in the shop starting a loud conversation with the person behind the counter about "people not wearing masks being part of the problem" in spite of the fact she was only wearing a scarf around her face and not a proper mask. When I pointed out I had an exemption - the owner said "well if that's your thing" like I had control over a mental health trauma issue as she FINALLY PUT ON HER OWN MASK!!!! For her to be so rude about something like that is just disgusting. I felt hideously uncomfortable and just walked out. Given the prices they were charging and the attitude - there are far better places to go, don't waste your time or money there.

We came across the Curiosity Shoppe just as we were passing through Ranfurly on the Central Otago Rail Trail. If you are into antiques then this relatively hidden spot is worth a look. They have a really eclectic range of ceramics, pottery, cutlery, and glassware etc.
We pulled up our bikes just for a look and left with our panniers filled with carefully wrapped Crown Lynn treasures. They also offer shipping which is much more sensible than bumping down the trail with crockery!

Ellie will invite you in to times gone by as you scour the shelves looking at crockery, crystal, kitchenware, pottery all from our grandmother's days... then you can continue the experience by meeting her husband 'Santa' and seeing his huge collection of all things that move... horse wagons, penny farthing, vintage cars.. the works.. fascinating place to stop and it's right on the otago rail trail!

This tiny space/shop is filled with all sorts of old, curious and neat little things. It is quite unique with its uneven floor, every place has something to look at. We just loved it and so glad we did not just bike past.

At the curiosity shop you can find many goods such as old books, glassware, ceramics, and many more things such as little trinkets and nick nacks. the staff member was friendly and helpful. In conclusion if you are doing the rail trail or coming into town and you like antiques or trinkets you should come here
